Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of the tools, equipment, and materials common to the plumbing trade. Skill in the installation, repair, and maintenance of all types of plumbing systems. Employer will train on the applicable plumbing codes. Employer has work quality standards

Job Summary Responsible for assisting plumber in all aspects of plumbing and water systems for residential, commercial and light industrial projects including waste piping, process piping, and complete plumbing and repair services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in installing and maintaining plumbing systems.
  • Determine water supply networks and waste drainage systems.
  • Install systems used to transport water, waste, gases, or liquids.
  • Ensure policies are being met and that systems are up to code.
  • Ensure systems meet all standards of building codes and safety.
  • Cut openings in structures in preparation for pipes.
  • Select all materials needed for installation, including type and size of pipe.
  • Install supports and hangers for pipe, fixtures and equipment.
  • Assemble and install valves and fittings.
  • Assemble pipe sections, tubing and fittings, using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement, plastic solvent, caulking, or soldering, brazing and welding equipment.
  • Install other plumbing equipment, such as sinks, tubs, toilets, water heaters, appliances, and trim.
  • Measure, cut, thread, and bend pipe to required angle.
  • Observe pressure gauges to fix leaks.
  • Test pipe systems and fix leaks.
  • Repair and maintain water treatment equipment.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance.
  • Ensure all installations, repairs and maintenance are properly sized, aligned, supported and grade.
  • Install underground sanitary and water piping systems and extend piping to connect fixtures and plumbing to these systems.
  • Clean up areas and clear away any debris.
  • Assist in repairing of all plumbing fixtures such as but not limited to toilets, faucets, valves, water heaters, water lines, sewer lines and appliances.

Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee lifts heavy objects (up to 50 lbs. regularly), walks and stands for long periods of time and performs strenuous physical labor under adverse field and weather conditions. The employee climbs, bends, lifts, pushes, pulls or carries objects; uses abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue; and jumps, sprints or throws objects. The position requires manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multi-limb coordination. The position requires moving arms and legs. The employee must have a full range of body movements including the use of hands, feet, and fingers to handle or feel objects and use tools and equipment. Employee must bend, reach, crouch, climb, crawl and dig for prolonged periods of time.
