Description

We currently have an opportunity for a Paralegal available within our Australia specialist Contract Review team. This team assists our Corporate Counsel with reviewing tender documents and contracts. We are ideally seeking someone with previous experience in a legal, commercial, contracts environment or other legal experience [construction or engineering would be a bonus!] who can:

a. Review consultancy agreements and identify key clauses for negotiation;

b. Liaise with the operations with respect to negotiating key clauses;

c. Deal with general contract queries from operations.

There will also be the opportunity to get involved with assisting Corporate Counsel with claims and disputes as well as implementing process improvements to ensure an efficient and “fit for purpose” contract review function.

Preference is for the person to be located in Brisbane, however we may consider a Sydney or Melbourne location for the right candidate.

Day to day tasks would involve:

  • Completion of contract reviews, against existing company guidelines, to mitigate any potential legal risk to Stantec.

  • Undertake legal research for the APAC Risk Management team.

  • Assist with review of project correspondence on claims, preparation of chronologies and claims reports

  • Be well organised and be comfortable with taking ownership of all tasks while managing deadlines that constantly change.

  • Have strong drafting skills and attention to detail when reviewing and assisting with legal documents.

  • Have strong communication skills with a positive and proactive attitude.

  • Enjoy working in a close team environment, having a warm and friendly approach.

  • Prior law firm, in-house experience or experience in a contract management or review role will be highly regarded.
