Tool and Die Maker - EDM Operator
SFS Group USA, Division Automotive has a full time opportunity for a skilled EDM Set-Up Operator in our state-of-the-art Tool Manufacturing Department. This position offers flexible day shift hours Monday through Friday. SFS Division Automotive concentrates on specific, high-growth segments of the automotive market. Our products include components for ABS/ ESC braking, fuel injection systems, safety belts, airbags, sensors, seats, doors and much more!
Job Responsibilities for EDM set up/ programmer
Set-up and operate wire EDM to perform, tight-tolerance EDM operations on various tooling components utilized primarily in cold forming processes.
Create new programs utilizing a combination of machine software, as well as an external software. Modify existing programs as needed.
Select, install and dress wheels and complete all changes in set-ups, according to requirements on blue prints. The parts to be processed require selection of work holding devices, indicators, and other measuring devices to obtain correct alignment and concentricity.
Apply expert knowledge of precision EDM practices to wire internal, external, straight and tapered shapes, to meet tight tolerances.
Read and interpret complex blueprints and follow the instructions on job route plans.
Exercise a high degree of attentiveness to device set-up. All complex tooling geometries can be pulled from external software.
Follow company safety regulations
Use various types of precision measuring devices including digital gauges, comparators, micrometers and caliper to inspect work.
Maintain a clean work area and keep up with basic maintenance tasks for the equipment.
Qualifications:
3+ years hands-on experience as wire EDM set-up/operator/programmer
Knowledge of GF/ Agie-Charmilles a plus
Prior experience setting up robotic loading systems a plus
