What You Will Do :

A successful Workplace Relations Specialist will provide advice, guidance, and support to various HR programs, policies and procedures that pertain to employee relations to ensure compliance and promote a safe and productive work environment. The incumbent will work to find solutions that reduce agency risk and lessen potential liability and ensure a fair and equitable approach to employee relations practices. Responsibilities include conducting workplace investigations; consult/coach/advice internal client groups on employee matters including, but not limited to performance management issues, behavioral matters and policy interpretation; drafting documents; and responding appropriately to challenging employee relations matters. Balancing time between the reactive and proactive spaces, the successful candidate will be required to provide expert advice that supports efficient business operations while remaining attentive to employee needs and ensuring compliance with all applicable policies and employment laws. Tact, diplomacy, knowledge, relevant experience, and the ability to multi-task are keys to the success of this role.

  • Develop a strong partnership with Segment and Functional leadership and HR Business Partner teams to execute Workplace Relations strategies that foster growth, innovation, and organizational compliance and effectiveness.

  • Conduct thorough and objective investigations to resolve complex employee related issues and maintain company employee standards and expectations.

  • Research company policies, procedures, guidance, etc., to understand and assess the applicability of such to issues that arise in employee/company interaction and provide consistent guidance and interpretation of the policies.

  • Review, provide suggested edits and finalize drafts for responses to employee concerns and complaints that violate enterprise policies.

  • Collaborate, coach, and consult closely with business leaders, HR Business Partners, Employment Attorneys, Ethics & Compliance, etc., to review/resolve matters across respective Segment or Functional team.

  • Identify, analyze, and interpret trends, patterns, and themes from case management data to determine gaps and/or to address areas requiring attention to inform and impact decisioning with clients.

  • Participate in the development and implementation of processes, documents and trainings that help mitigate business risk and proactively support and maintain a positive employment climate

  • Assist with case management and administration, data analysis and other areas as necessary.

What You Will Need :

  • Bachelor’s Degree; Four (4) years additional professional experience may be substituted in lieu of degree.

  • 4+ years of related HR experience.

  • Knowledge of and practical experience with employee relations issues (including understanding of employment law and policy interpretation).

  • Experience developing, conducting, and providing training to management, particularly with regards to situations involving interpersonal conflict.

  • Experience counseling managers and supervisors regarding best practices methods of resolving conflict, performance issues, and acts of misconduct.

  • Proven track record of working independently to achieve key results, while keeping management and colleagues abreast of critical issues.

  • Excellent organizational skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communications.

  • Collaboration skills and experience working with other internal human capital and legal stakeholders

  • Experience acting as a trusted advisor to leaders, peers, and employees with a consultative approach

  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

  • Knowledge of HR technologies, including HRIS and/or Case Management Tool

  • Ability to gather, analyze, and synthesize information and data from multiple sources and summarize investigative findings clearly and concisely in writing

  • Ability to work independently and utilize resources to problem solve a variety of complex, highly sensitive people issues

  • Ability to prioritize work in fast paced environment

What Would Be Nice To Have :

  • Possession of excellent organizational and fact gathering skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Business, HR, or a related field

  • Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) Certification

  • Certified Employee Relations Professional (CERP) Certification

  • HR Certification, including PHR and SPHR
