SAIC Systems Engineer in MCLEAN, Virginia

Description

SAIC’s National Intelligence Community (NIC) Business Unit, USG Mission and Information Technology Division, is seeking a Systems Engineer to perform full lifecycle data management and conduct system administration and maintenance on a stand-alone network.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting in designing and implementing technical solutions within Stand-Alone network

  • Contributing to strategic direction and deployment for an enterprise systems solution (plan, design, build), integration, connectivity, multifactor authentication while leveraging industry best practices; documenting all processes and steps to completion following the program standards and policies

  • Managing the network to maintain security accreditation

  • Troubleshooting user issues

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

· Active TS/SCI with polygraph.

TYPICAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelors and eigtheen (18) years or more experience; Masters and sixteen (16) years or more experience; PhD or JD and fifteen years or more experience

· Ten (10) or more years of demonstrated experience in the following:

o Supporting and implementing various Windows configuration environments with some experience on Linux environments (Red Hat).

o Working in an Agile Scrum team environment.

o Tracking product licenses use within a Stand-Alone network.

o Managing Windows enterprise systems and data storage devices

o Familiarity with Splunk application and configuration.

· Capable of working independently and in a team environment to complete tasks with limited information.

· Proficient in Windows system administration, Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP), Active Directory (AD), Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), access management solutions and enterprise systems.

· Experience with managing CISCO network and firewall operation devices of on-premise systems, as well as, software network and firewall systems from Amazon Web Services (AWS).

· Experience with Shell scripting to assist with Operation and Maintenance.

· Experience with optimizing or implementing automation steps to reduce heavy manual processes.

· Routinely provide monthly status on health of current systems and networks periodically.

· Perform regular testing, scripting of systems to ensure operability on short notice.

· Create, maintain, and regularly update Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).

· Provide weekly reports to stakeholders on statuses and ongoing projects.

· Maintain an inventory of equipment, software, license, system accounts, certifications, and other related accesses.

· Experience with disaster recovery and backup techniques

· Experience with managing and implementing VMware products and solutions.

· Ability to recognize opportunities to help maximize and improve efficiencies of daily operations.

· Ability to provide desktop support and troubleshoot hardware/software applications to remove any blockers.

· Strong technical acumen to understand customer requirements; assist in research, learning new skillsets, and adapting how to best answer a request.

· Experience using Atlassian applications (JIRA and Confluence) in addition to managing, updating, and creating content of daily activities.

· Demonstrated experience with security accreditation process.

· Experience with addressing Plan of Action and Milestones (POAM) and applying mitigation actions.

· Experience in identifying possible security risks, review and advisement on solutions, installation of mitigating software/patches, implement security checks, security controls, and monitoring of network systems.

· Ability to manage work load schedules to complete multiple tasks simultaneously within allocated timeframes.

Desired Skills:

· Familiarity with Agile best practices and ceremonies such as (Scrum, Kanban, Stand-ups, Sprints, Retrospectives).

· Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE)

· Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)

· CompTIA A· Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RCHSA)

· Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE)

· VMware Certified Professional

· AWS Certified Solutions Architect

· CISSP
