This role will support Clark Technologies' projects and regional growth by developing and executing strategic community engagement and communications initiatives that amplify the company’s impact and meet project-driven community goals and commitments.
Responsibilities
Community Engagement Programs: Support the design and implementation of a strategic community engagement plans to enhance sustainable community growth in Central Virginia, focusing on local hiring, workforce development, youth engagement, and local and small business utilization.
Strategic Communications and Content Creation: Develop and distribute project-level communications (e-blasts, community presentations, construction updates, newsletters, etc.) to foster public trust, and build awareness of Clark’s construction activities, progress, and milestones, promote project opportunities, and communicate ongoing community engagement efforts. Support Clark in responding to public inquiries, concerns, and requests to reinforce the company’s commitment to being a responsive and respectful builder in the community.
Stakeholder and Community Engagement: Act as Clark’s community ambassador, cultivating partnerships with project neighbors, local businesses, workforce and non-profit organizations, community groups, and educational institutions. Collaborate with the company’s Corporate Affairs and Corporate Responsibility teams to ensure alignment on public affairs and government relations matters.
Advance, Track, and Measure Community Impact: Support the advancement of project-driven community goals or commitments and track data related to local workforce development and local and small business utilization to measure the project’s economic impact.
Event Planning and Management: Lead the planning and execution of community-focused events that engage community leaders, support workforce and youth development, and strengthen relationships with project neighbors and regional stakeholders.
Cultivate a network of industry relationships to bring potential business opportunities to Clark leadership
Help attract and recruit top talent to Clark: A mindset of "All team members are recruiters"
Exceed our stakeholders’ expectations by anticipating their needs, desires, and goals
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in communications, public affairs, or a related field preferred but not required
6-7+ years of relevant experience in strategic communications, community engagement, corporate responsibility, public/community affairs, and/or government relations
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create and deliver high-quality strategic plans, presentations, and multimedia content
Familiarity with the Central Virginia region (Louisa, Henrico, Albemarle, Chesterfield, and Hanover counties) preferred
Experience with event planning and stakeholder engagement; capacity to independently manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Previous experience with workforce development and youth engagement initiatives is a plus
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel); experience with Adobe Creative Suite and digital communications platforms (Mailchimp, Constant Contact) is preferred
Strategic thinking with a demonstrated ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and deliver high-quality work in a dynamic and deadline-driven environment
Ability to create effective partnerships at all levels of the organization and within the community
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with others
A high degree of professionalism and integrity
Travel required (30%)

Construction work requires strenuous physical activity. The essential functions of this job include, but are not limited to, walking on uneven surfaces, climbing several flights of stairs or ladders uninterrupted, working at extensive heights, lifting 50 pounds, repetitive lifting, working a minimum of 40 hours per week, working outdoors as required, seeing with clarity (naturally or with correction), having accurate depth perception and acceptable peripheral vision, and hearing sufficiently (naturally or with correction) to respond to verbal instruction, warning bells, and alarms.
