Summary This job opportunity is for an AIRCRAFT ELECTRICIAN, position description D1369000, within the 108TH MXS of the New Jersey National Guard. This vacancy announcement is a Title 32, Excepted Service position. Its primary purpose is to analyze malfunctions, troubleshoot, repair, install, maintain, test, inspect, and modify the electrical/environmental systems and other systems on and/or off-aircraft. Responsibilities As an AIRCRAFT ELECTRICIAN, WG-2892-10, you will: Performs maintenance, inspects, modifies, tests, services, troubleshoots, isolates malfunctions, and repairs the aircraft electrical/environmental systems and other aircraft systems. Provides technical advice and troubleshooting expertise to other work centers as needed when electrical or environmental systems affect the aircraft systems such as radar, weapons release, navigation, communication, instruments, flight controls, pneudraulics, fuel or other systems/subsystems. Provides on-the-job training to lower graded personnel or to newly assigned personnel regardless of grade. Requisitions, processes, and accounts for supply assets as required by the repairable processing system. Complies with safety, fire, security, and housekeeping regulations and ensures that material and equipment are properly stored, protected, maintained and secured. May be required to perform duties as accumulation point manager for hazardous waste. Prepares for and participates in various types of readiness evaluations such as MEI, ORI, IG and UE inspections, mobility and command support exercises. Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements Conditions of Employment Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement. This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard. Areas of Consideration: CAT4: Individuals eligible for membership in the New Jersey National Guard Military Grades: A1C/E-3 to SSGT/ E-5 Compatible Military Assignments: 2A6X6 Selectee has one (1) year to obtain required AFSC Participation in direct deposit is mandatory May be required to successfully complete a probationary period Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service Qualifications General Experience: Must have the following experiences: Locating and tying in the electrical systems with the aircraft armament, electronics, and instrument systems Adjusting and calibrating the components of the various electrical systems Reading and interpreting blueprints, wiring diagrams and schematics Specialized Experience: Must have 18 months of the following experiences: Installing, maintaining, repairing and modifying electrical systems and major substation components of electrical system Diagnosing malfunctions and determining remedy when complex relationships exists among different electrical system circuits requiring knowledge of all electrical units and systems Making electrical repairs that require the use of precision measuring equipment and common hand tools Setting up and operating computerized multiple circuit Analyzing equipment in manual, semiautomatic, or automatic mode Running existing and new (not fully debugged) diagnostic programs Testing and analyzing aircraft electrical circuitry and interconnecting cabling of systems such as navigational computers, radar, and related equipment and to repair discrepancies.
