Universal Health Services Clinical Pharmacist II in MCALLEN, Texas

Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY: Clinical Pharmacist is an integrated part of the multidisciplinary care team, serving as a resource for antimicrobial stewardship, medication safety, and optimized pharmaceutical dosing. Clinical Pharmacists assists with medication histories, monitors patient’s drug therapies and provide drug information. Clinical Pharmacist may respond to Codes (Code Blue/Sepsis/Stroke/ STEMI), including the preparation of needed medications. Clinical Pharmacists fill orders for medications, monitor patient’s drug therapies and provide drug information. Clinical pharmacist supervises and directs supportive staff. In the absence of the Director of Pharmacy, a clinical pharmacist may be required to assume the essential responsibilities and perform the duties of the Director of Pharmacy

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Completion of a general 1-year pharmacy residency, specialty residency, and/or fellowship or at least 3 years of hospital pharmacy experience

  2. Ability to work independently and handle stress appropriately.

  3. Ability to handle frequent interruptions and adapt to changes in workload and work schedule.

  4. Ability to set priorities, make critical decisions and respond quickly to emergency requests.

  5. Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written), preferably in both English and Spanish.

  6. Knowledge of laws, rules and regulations that govern the practice of pharmacy

  7. Knowledge of pathophysiology, interpretation of diagnostic criteria, pharmacokinetics and pharmacotherapeutics

  8. Must demonstrate commitment and adherence to STHS’s Compliance Program and Code of Conduct through compliance with all policies and procedures, the Code of Conduct, attendance at required training and immediately reporting suspected compliance issue(s) to the Compliance Officer.

EDUCATION / LICENSURE:

  1. BS or Pharm.D. from a School of Pharmacy

  2. Current license in good standing with Texas State Board of Pharmacy

  3. Must have and maintain BLS, ACLS, and/or PALS if applicable, or obtain within 6 months of hire

  4. ASHP IV certification or successful completion of an ACPE/ASHP accredited program within 180 days of hire if not already certified
