Erickson Living Staff Development Manager in Matthews, North Carolina

SUMMARY: Lead effective strategies for training, development and retention of staff for the Dining Services Department. This position works with current staff to mentor and monitor professional skills development. Particular focus on the development, training and retention of the Dining Services Department with emphases on coaching and guiding minors entering the workforce. This position will support recruitment efforts as needed. Working knowledge of dining room, café, kitchen and utility operations and functions in both independent and Continuing Care.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Coordinates and/or facilitates new employee orientation for minor staff after normal school hours. Work with managers to ensure the ongoing development of all dining staff by reviewing performance reviews, reviewing coaching/counseling forms and discussing performance with supervisory staff. Develops, coordinates and presents dining skills training for service and sanitation. Prepares all staff for promotional and growth opportunities by supporting and reviewing individual development plans. Collaborate with recruiter weekly to support full front of the house and back of the house staffing As demand rises assist HR with sourcing, phone screening and interviewing of hourly front of the house and back of the house staffing Support outreach efforts with local schools, public employment agencies and community outreach. Partner with community recruiters to attends local and regional job fairs to source qualified applicants. Support and attend hiring events to ensure a candidate pipeline. Collaborate with recruiter to ensure efficient hiring and onboarding process of all dining hourly staff in conjunction with the Human Resources Department. Support dining venue service hours as a floor manager to support operations and lead and mentor students. Monitors student staff behavior and is present during service. Support and develop Certified Server Trainers. Present in the dining areas during service times to ensure staff maintains service standards, to mentor and coach students and reinforce training. Maintains the Erickson Way and One Team behaviors at all times. Monitor minor staff behavior including attitude (smiles), appearance, and attendance. Coach staff and their managers to success. Provide expectations, feedback and coaching as needed. Coordinates motivational teambuilding activities for the dining staff. Meet with Dining Human Resources Manager to review and monitors turnover and retention of hourly staff, reports to the Director any trends, ongoing issues and concerns and develops and recommends approaches to address areas of concern. Performs training with the leadership staff as part of their continual development. Educates and trains Managers and Certified Server trainers on appropriate training and motivational techniques for a workforce. Reviews and offers appropriate feedback to the management team. Runs reports in HRMS and ensure that all dining staff completes all required dining and compliance training. Performs additional duties as assigned by the Director of Dining Services.

COMPENSATION:

  • Commensurate with experience starting at $63,000 annually

QUALIFICATIONS:

Excellent verbal and written communication skills required. Ability to train other management in the management and motivation of all staff. Organizational skills required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s Degree preferred. Proven experience managing and motivating in a customer service environment. Related experience in food service, an educational food service management program, or experience in recruitment, staff development and training with an ability to learn food service.
