Summary Facilities Management Service is seeking Maintenance Workers to perform various small repairs of HVAC, electrical, plumbing and performs other general carpentry duties at the medical center. This includes installations, assembles, maintenance, repairs, and some fabrications of various systems and equipment. Incumbents will work under the direct supervision of the Maintenance and Operations Supervisor. Responsibilities Assembles, installs, and make repairs to items such as wooden and plastic clad doors, doorframes, window frames, screens, and molding, etc. Installs door holders, locksets, closures, bumpers, handrails, hinge, etc. Operates, maintains, repairs and adjust various power activated tools. i.e., skill saws, bench sander, table saw, band. Fabricates and/or assembles, disassembles, shelves, caseworks, and counters. Repairs, installs, and replaces suspended ceiling, grid systems, and panels. Lays out, installs, and maintains vinyl tile, base coving laminated surfaces. Lays out, frames and erect partitions and must be able to estimate material cost as well as inspect materials to ensure quality and quantity. Builds displays, modifies tables, counters, cabinets, and shelves, etc. Repairs of structural bearing and non-bearing walls as well as the installation of metal stud walls and finishing them with sheetrock and paneling. Prepares all surfaces, sands to a smooth finish, patch. etc. in preparation for paint application(s). Paints rooms as assigned and performs touch-up painting as needed; ensures color match for all painting requirements. Performs plumbing work which includes repairing or replacing leaking faucets, toilet flushing devices, clearing clogged drain lines, sterilizers, valves, and sprinkler systems. Performs air conditioning work such as adjusting room thermostats and hot/cold water temperature control valves. Cleans air filters and refrigeration condensers. Performs mechanical work such as repairing wheelchairs, mobile stretcher, gurneys, and mail carts Work Schedule: Monday thru Friday 8am to 4:30pm Position Description Title/PD#: Maintenance Worker- Engineering and Facilities Management Service/PD09549A Physical Requirements: The incumbent must be prepared to spend time walking on cement, tile, or other hard surfaces. Stoops, bends, and stands in tiring and uncomfortable positions, which require a great deal of stamina and good health. Normally moves at a rapid pace in performing some duties. Frequently lifts, transports, carries, or handles heavy items of supplies or equipment. In making physical moves within and without of the warehouse area, lifts, pushes handles or otherwise controls heavy items. The incumbent must work from ladders, scaffolds, platforms and in \ areas where dirt, dust, Ames, various gases and other contaminates are present. The individual is also required to work on ladders in an overhead position and in small spaces. Individual is subject to long periods of standing, sitting or squatting and must frequently lift, carry, and set up material and equipment that weighs up to 50 pounds. SCREEN-OUT ELEMENT: Your qualifications will first be evaluated against the prescribed screen out element, which usually appears as question 1 in the on-line questionnaire. Those applicants who appear to possess at least the minimal acceptable qualification requirement are considered for further rating; those who do not are rated ineligible and are eliminated. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities.
