Core responsibilities include:

  • Interact with the CFO and other constituents to proactively identify opportunities to minimize the company's cash and book (financial statement) taxes.

  • Responsible for assessing and communicating to senior management the potential tax consequences of existing laws and pending legislation on our operations and proposed transactions.

  • Lead the tax related analysis of business activities, structures, and commercial transactions, including the identification and evaluation of alternatives and the recommendation of solutions to senior management.

  • Ensure the proper accounting and external financial reporting of taxes, including the recognition and coordination of the book and tax effects of events in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.

  • Review and monitor changes in domestic and foreign tax legislation, rulings, regulations, and litigation, as well as understand the impact of those changes and recommend and implement appropriate actions to manage existing positions and capitalize on possible new opportunities.

  • Update tax planning models to forecast the utilization of tax attributes, changes in tax positions, and other opportunities that advanced planning may identify while assuring the adequacy of the income tax provision.

  • Interface with taxing authorities, including coordination of tax audits, negotiation of tax issues, filing of appeals, and directing litigation as well as with the company's auditors.

  • Review tax policies and procedures employed for compliance

  • Review and assist with the calculation federal and state estimated income tax payment requirements, federal and state income tax returns, federal excise tax returns, and sales and use tax returns and remittances.

  • Lead the review and structuring of any acquisitions, mergers, or dispositions from a global tax perspective.

  • Build, develop, and retain a technically capable tax staff that is able to serve the business and other support functions (accounting, treasury, legal, etc.) in a timely and concise manner.

  • Providing direction to, and managing relationship with, external tax consultants, counsel, and external auditors.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 10 years of applicable tax experience, with demonstrated leadership and personnel development responsibilities.

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in public accounting (Big 4 firm) preferred.

  • B.S. in Tax, Finance, or Accounting is required.

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and/or Master of Taxation is preferred.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; solid research and computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to work well both autonomously and collaboratively.

  • Effectively plan and prioritize projects including schedules, resource allocation, communication and cost.

  • Exhibit sound judgment when making business decisions and balancing different needs.

  • Ability to work additional hours as needed and travel to various locations as required.

  • Planning and organizing. Scheduling and monitoring; deadline-oriented. Attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Strategic planning; problem-analysis and problem-solving skills.

  • Critical thinking; judgment and decision-making. Dealing with complexity.

Physical Demands:

  • Works in a manufacturing environment

  • Able to lift and move up to 50 pounds occasionally

  • Able to stand, sit, stoop, squat and walk

Work Environment and Personal Protective Equipment:

Within any of our facilities, employees may be exposed to manufacturing noise, airborne liquid chemicals, fine particulate dust, ambient temperatures, and industrial lighting. Work environment is similar to most manufacturing and distribution operations. May be exposed to excessive noise, temperatures, hazards associated with working around moving machinery, work in confined quarters, exposure to vibrations and shop lighting, continuous exposure to hot temperatures, may be humid, odors, dust, continuous exposure to mechanical hazards, and occasional exposure to chemical hazards.

The following Personal Protective Equipment is required:

Safety glasses with side shields and hearing protection required when on manufacturing floor

The use of additional personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required when a job task(s) is being completed in or around your assigned department or in another department, this includes safety eyewear, hearing protection, and safety footwear.
