ABOUT THIS CAREER OPPORTUNITY
The role will report into the Director of the Project Management & Governance Office (PM&GO). The Project Manager will be required to own and manage projects on a day-to-day basis. Ensuring that the project produces the required deliverables and within the specified constraints of time, quality and cost to achieve the potential benefits defined in the business case.
The projects are enterprise wide, varying in complexity and size within a matrix organizational structure. Deliverables can vary in scope from business to technology streams or a combination of both. Projects are delivered following a gated governance model and associated reporting into the portfolio of projects.
The Project Manager PMO will be responsible for the following duties and responsibilities:
Manage complex initiatives that span one or multiple functions (IT, Finance, Fleet, Corporate Services) in support of our business lines (Construction, Utilities, Facilities Management, Service)
Provide leadership by building and motivating team members to meet project goals, managing to KPIs, KRIs and project milestones
Full project life cycle ownership: Intake, Requirements Gathering, Planning, Execution, Governance, Reporting, Financial, Capacity and Change Management
Report on project success criteria results, metrics, test and deployment management activities
Work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment demonstrating teamwork, innovation, continual improvement
Manage complex stakeholder requirements in a matrix organization coordinating and propelling multiple functions towards successful project delivery, including supporting vendors
Participate in the development, improvement of best practices, templates, policies, tools and partnerships to expand and mature these capabilities for the organization
Prepare estimates and detailed project plans for all stages of the project
Manage the day-to-day project & portfolio activities and resources, manage project governance, chair project management team meetings
Provide status reporting regarding project milestones, deliverable, dependencies, risks and issues
Manage project scope and changes
Monitor, track and control outcomes to resolve issues, conflicts, dependencies and critical path deliverables
Coach, mentor, motivate and supervise project team
COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS
Strong verbal and written communication to all levels within the organization
Strong ability to develop analyses and presentations in support of project goals and reporting requirements
Ability to present to all levels of the organization, control the room when necessary
Understanding of project and program management principles, methods and techniques
Strong leadership, diplomatic and motivational skills including the ability to lead up, across and down multiple business and technology organizations
Proven ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment demonstrating teamwork, innovation and excellence
Self-motivated, decisive, with the ability to adapt to change and competing demands
Proven ability to work in an ambiguous environment and collaborate across multiple areas in order to achieve a common business objective
Curious, driven, ability to challenge the status quo and work to improve the maturity of our PMO
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- University degree or college diploma in commerce, engineering, project management or related education
WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
5+ years as a Project Manager or in a role with a heavy engagement in projects
5+ years of experience working with business stakeholders within a cross-functional matrix environment
SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Strong control of the Microsoft Productivity Suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Planner, Project PowerBI, Teams)
Strong ability to create and deliver presentation materials
Understanding use of KanBan methodology
Experience in SDLC Methodologies
Must obtain and maintain necessary security clearance
Effective written and verbal communication skills, Excellent interpersonal skills
Demonstrates a commitment to providing excellent client service by building and maintaining productive relationships with both internal and external clients
Demonstrates ability to manage relationships and communicate effectively at all levels
Confidence in ability to work in a highly technical and changing work environment
