The Marion County Appraisers Office is accepting applications for the following vacant position:
Administrative Assistant: Full-time position involves assisting citizens in the office, working on special
projects, performing clerical/data entry and bookkeeping duties, filing, and other duties as assigned. This
position acts as receptionist. One year of office experience is preferred, but not required. Experience in
Microsoft Word & Excel (or equivalent) is a plus. A positive attitude, great organizational skills, attention
to detail and willingness to learn are very important in this position. Applicant must have a valid drivers
license, high school diploma or equivalent, good math, computer, and communication skills. The
successful applicants must also be able to work well in team, public and individual settings. Positions are
vacant until filled.

ADMINISTRATIVE SPECIALIST I

Position Summary
Under the administrative supervision of the County Appraiser / Deputy County Appraiser, the
Administrative Specialist I is a non-exempt position under the FLSA that performs clerical and
accounting duties unique to the appraisers office. Work involves maintaining office records and
financial bookkeeping of the department. The employee in this position acts as receptionist, performs
data entry of a complex nature, and assists in the smooth office operations of the Marion County
Appraisers Office. When needed this position locates property, gathers information and data, taking
measurements, and recording information for appraisal purposes. This is done in the field and must
work independently with little or no supervision.
Essential Functions
? Acts as purchasing clerk, with the responsibility of processing bills / invoices for approval by the
County Appraiser;
? Obtains bids for equipment, supplies and services for approval by the County Appraiser;
? Balances cash and deposits funds with the Marion County Treasurer. Does billing for appraisers
and real estate agent accounts;
? Handles the processing of all incoming and outgoing mail and distributes appropriately;
? Reception, answers phones and directs calls;
? Maintains ORION property parcel records, and changes as directed by appraisers to include data
entry;
? Maintains Hearing Tracking records and schedules for all hearings;
? Maintains all exemption, revitalization, and COTA files;
? Maintains all building permits and accurately assigns them to parcels;
? Generates computer reports including ORION Selectabilities for field staff and quality control
phases;
? Maintains parcel filing system;
? Records and maintains fee appraiser licenses;
? Assists fee appraisers with finding comparable sales and sales information;
? Performs end-of-day updates and checks printed report for errors;
? Maintains the County Appraisers website;
? Maintains good public working relations with taxpayers;
? Maintains Neighborhood Revitalization database and provides Co. Clerk and Treasurer with
necessary information to process rebates;
? Identifies all property from maps, legal descriptions, and interiors with property owners;
? Measures and identifies building and structures types;
? Determines quality and grade of structure per guidelines used by PUD and the Marshall and Swift
Cost Esti mate;
? Sketches buildings and structure to scale;
? Records property information on ICS/DATA collection;
? Assists in Conducting Final review of Cards;
? Residential Property values as needed;
? Determines the proper classification of properties from ad value on taxation;

Minimum Position Requirements
Experience: One to three years of clerical experience is desired. Employee is expected to
have acquired the necessary information and skills to perform the job for Marion County
reasonably well after one year in the position.
Education: GED or High School Diploma required. Technical degree certification or college
