Corteva Agriscience Administrative Assistant in Marion, Iowa

What You'll Do:
Answers and screens incoming calls to provide information and direct calls to appropriate staff. Requires a thorough knowledge of a department or work groups and an ability to interpret policies, procedure and practices within the assigned areas.
Attends and participates in departmental meetings. May organize provide input, take minutes and distribute information.
Composes and/or prepares correspondence, spreadsheets and presentations. Proofreads for content and typographical errors and supplies correct spelling, punctuation and grammar as needed.
Establishes and maintains files, reports, and other hardcopy of computerized information related to departmental operations. Information may be highly confidential.
Coordinates and schedules travel and meeting arrangements.
Codes, verifies and processes expense reports and invoices for supervisor and other staff
Responds to employee inquiries about department or company programs, practices and procedures.
Maintains and updates calendars for supervisor or departments.
Lead specified safety programs within the research center. Organizes and co-leads monthly safety meetings.
Organizes and assigns safety and site-specific training to employees at the research center.
May assist in the preparation and maintenance of the department budget and related program expenses.
May lead the work of other employees in accomplishing administrative responsibilities. May assign work, provide instructions and provide input about employee performance.
May serve as a Personnel Data Entry Coordinator (PDEC) or Time Data Entry Coordinator (TDEC) in executing HR R/3 functions related to payroll procedures, new hire, position management and time data entry.
May support managers in the pay administration process by collecting and entering employee pay recommendations onto spreadsheets.
Administrative Assistants typically serve as key points of contact for questions or issues related to administrative processes. Incumbents are expected to serve as a resource and provide guidance on issues such as hiring/exit procedures, ordering supplies, resolving coding issues with expense reports, resolving technical questions about computer or conference room equipment, etc.
Work with other centers and administrative assistants across the organization to troubleshoot problems, collaborate on best practices, identify areas of opportunity and create solutions for improvement of processes and procedures.
Administrative Assistants are often responsible for managing and prioritizing meeting requests for the supervisor or others. Incumbents are responsible for assuring that meetings are scheduled efficiently and effectively. Incumbents typically work with the supervisor to resolve meeting conflicts and to determine the priority and importance of meetings.
What Skills You Need:
High school diploma required. Associate’s degree preferred.
At least two to three years of related administrative work experience
General knowledge and technical skills related to the assigned department or work group
Knowledge of various computer software and application tools
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to develop and maintain effective relationships
Strong oral and written communication skills
Demonstrated customer service skills
Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical skills
Demonstrated computer proficiency including use of spreadsheets or database systems
Ability to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities
Ability to work effectively as part of a team
Ability to maintain and protect confidential information
Attention to detail
