TEKsystems Sr. Network Engineer in Maplewood, Minnesota
Description:
Job Summary:
Will need to be local to the Twin Cities, MN to have access to the Data Center if needed to go in (very rare occasions)
Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
• Support WAN aggregation network in the data center (BGP/OSPF)
• Support layer 2 infrastructure (Catalyst, Nexus, ACI)
• Checkpoint UTM project (New builds, OSPF routing, IPSEC tunnels)
• Ensure that corporate on-premise system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and security mechanisms adhere to best practices and organizational standards
• Deep level Troubleshooting of system problems, and escalation of problems to vendors as necessary
• Works within a new agile team, promoting an atmosphere of continuous improvement
• Participate in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation and automation
• Provide strong influence in technical project teams to evaluate and implement innovative solutions
• Utilize various automation, monitoring, and service management tools & techniques to troubleshoot issues and perform performance tuning
• Be involved in Architectural decision making, and providing recommendations based on knowledge and experience
• On call duties within a 9-person rotation.
Basic Qualifications
• Minimum five years of experience in IT Networking in a private, public, government or military environment
• Nexus layer 2 experience
• BGP and OSPF skills
o candidate should be able to explain route tagging and how to use route-maps
• Checkpoint UTM skills
o CLI and Linux
o MDS
o Tufin
o Routing protocols (mainly OSPF)
• Knowledge of common protocols including LAN / WAN, subnetting, VLANs, IPSec VPN, BGP, Spanning Tree, etc.
• Knowledge of Splunk is a bonus
• Python, JSoN, Yaml skills while not required are a bonus.
• Excellent problem-solving skills
• Self-starter with strong self-management skills

● Day to day management of F5 ADC/LTM environment
● Network support and network delivery for LAN/WAN/wireless refreshes to all 3M location across the US and Europe
● Installed and configured network hardware for new and existing offices
● Installed and configured wireless infrastructure
● Recommended network hardware based on requirements
● Performed pre-migration network discovery tasks (requirements gathering, bandwidth usage, load analysis)
● Performed network migration tasks
● Created network documentation
● Created standardized switch configurations
● Remediate vulnerabilities via patching, and software updates to network and wireless environment
