Fairview Health Services Registered Nurse (RN) – Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in Maplewood, Minnesota

Fairview Health Services is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) for our ICU at our M Health Fairview St. John's Hospital location in Maplewood, MN .

Our 184 bed facility offers a wide variety of diagnostic and therapeutic services.Within our ICU, our Registered Nurses are responsible for caring for patients who have many different diagnoses including, but not limited to, sepsis, overdoses, withdrawals, and surgical patients who need a higher level of care. Our complex patients require continuous hemodynamic monitoring, intense medication management, ongoing critical thinking, and excellent communication with team members and families. This is a fast-paced and highly technical medical environment.

Schedule: This position will be working 0.9 FTE (72 hours every two weeks). The shift length will be 12 hours on the night shift. This position will also work every third weekend.

About the ICU at St. John's Hospital:

St. John’s is proud to offer hiring opportunities within its growing ICU. Comprised of a Medical Surgical and Cardiac Specialty population, St. John’s currently has 20 ICU beds. Heart care is expanding at our site and we are looking for engaged and passionate nurses with an interest in Cardiac Surgery. We pride ourselves on delivering the best patient care and welcome nurses who are engaged and eager to develop their practice.

  • 20 Adult ICU beds

  • Average Daily Census 14

Responsibilities Job Description

As an ICU RN, you will be responsible for:

  • Assessing patient needs and identifying expected nursing outcomes;

  • Developing an individualized nursing plan of care;

  • Implementing interventions as needed during treatment based on the plan of care;

  • Evaluating care and patient response to interventions and expected outcomes;

  • Using communication strategies to achieve desirable outcomes;

  • Coordinating care with members of the health care team and delegating responsibilities to others as appropriate;

  • Demonstrating the ability to advance care by utilizing standards, guidelines, care pathways, and continuous improvement to enhance patient outcomes;

  • Promoting a culture of evidence based practice (EBP) by participating in a multitude of available opportunities; and

  • Performing these responsibilities in accordance with all policy, procedures, professional practice guidelines and the MN Nurse Practice Act.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Basic Life Support Through Health Care Providers

  • Five years RN Critical Care experience

  • Degree in Nursing

  • RN License

Preferred qualifications:

  • Previous Critical Care experience

  • Preceptor experience

  • Telemetry experience

  • ACLS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
