Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital Health Informatics Analyst - Revenue Cycle & Clinical Operations in Manistique, Michigan

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Health Informatics Analyst will play a critical role in bridging the gap between IT, revenue cycle management, and clinical operations within our healthcare facility. This position is responsible for the development, implementation, and optimization of informatics solutions to enhance revenue cycle performance while supporting clinical excellence. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in both health informatics and revenue cycle management, with the ability to apply data-driven insights to improve patient care, operational efficiency, and financial outcomes.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Health Informatics, Health Information Management, or a related field highly preferred.

  • Proven experience in health informatics, particularly in revenue cycle management and clinical operations.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.

  • Proficiency in EHR systems, coding systems (ICD-10, CPT), and healthcare IT standards (HL7, FHIR) would be very beneficial.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Project management experience and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

    ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Revenue Cycle Management:

  • Analyze and optimize the use of informatics systems in the revenue cycle to ensure accurate billing, coding, and documentation.

  • Implement and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track and improve revenue cycle efficiency.

  • Collaborate with the finance and billing departments to identify and resolve discrepancies, denials, and areas of revenue leakage.

  • Clinical Informatics Integration:

  • Work closely with clinical staff to understand workflow processes and identify opportunities for informatics solutions to enhance patient care and clinical outcomes.

  • Customize and maintain Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems to meet the specific needs of clinical operations while ensuring seamless integration with revenue cycle systems.

  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, including HIPAA and HITECH, in all informatics initiatives.

  • Data Analysis and Reporting:

  • Utilize analytics tools to gather, analyze, and interpret data from various sources (EHR, billing systems, etc.) to inform decision-making.

  • Develop and deliver reports and dashboards to leadership, highlighting key metrics, trends, and insights in revenue cycle performance and clinical operations.

  • Project Management and Collaboration:

  • Lead and participate in cross-functional projects aimed at improving informatics infrastructure, workflows, and system integrations.

  • Serve as a liaison between IT, revenue cycle, clinical staff, and external vendors to ensure effective communication and project alignment. Provide training and support to staff on new systems, features, and best practices in health informatics.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.
