BAE Systems Hardware Engineering Manager - RTL Design Verification (Hybrid) in Manchester, New Hampshire

Job Description

BAE Systems is seeking a Design Verification Manager to work within our Electronic Systems business area leading a Design Verification (DV) group. We are interested in candidates with leadership, project management, and design verification experience, who have had a role in new development and/or established programs. Candidates must demonstrate strong technical aptitude and leadership skills. Experience leading DV engineers within multi-disciplined engineering teams through all phases of an ASIC or FPGA development lifecycle is important, as the individual will be in a position to influence program execution and mentor engineers.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and managing a team of Design Verification engineers

  • Hiring and staffing DV engineers in support of program needs

  • Advancing the state of DV at BAE Systems by assessing and evaluating modern tools, design techniques, and hardware resources

  • Managing personnel performance and development

  • Influencing program execution, and scope management

  • Communicating information to engineering team, up through leadership, and across the organization for sharing of best practice and lessons learned

  • Assisting in the development, review, and approval of proposals, and negotiating scope with programs

  • Enhancing engineering processes used on programs, and ensuring consistent application of those processes

  • Supporting key initiatives to improve the business execution or discipline

Primary tasks will include:

  • Collaborate with engineering talent leads to develop staffing strategies to meet the business needs

  • Grow capabilities in critical skill areas identified for the business

  • Work closely with project engineering managers and hardware managers to ensure successful execution on programs

  • Monitor execution and health of DV programs through performance metrics

  • Oversee and ensure adherence to verification process through lifecycle phases including: design development, verification, and integration

  • Drive scope management through understanding of technical baselines, proposal positions, and execution plans

  • Develop strategies for efficient reuse and leverage of verification IP

  • Serve as design review chair or assessor for development programs to ensure reviews meet hardware guidelines, and to ensure appropriate subject matter experts are engaged

  • Support proposal efforts for hardware engineering to capture new business

  • Review and approve bids and proposals, ensuring estimates meet acceptable schedule / budget risk targets

  • Provide employees with performance assessments for mid-year and end-of-year reviews

  • Support the development of employees through coaching, training, mentorship, and career planning

  • Support key initiatives in business area or in discipline to meet yearly objectives and continuous improvement goals

  • Provide communication of hardware engineering performance to business and discipline senior leadership

Because this role involves a combination of collaborative/in-person and independent work, it will take the form of a hybrid work format, with time split between working onsite and remotely.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Current Security Clearance (Secret), or eligible to obtain one

  • Electrical engineering degree

  • BSE with 10 years experience or MSE and 8 years experience

  • Experience as a DV Lead on one or more successful projects

  • Hands-on experience in all phases of DV, from planning and architecture, to implementation and testing, through coverage closure

  • Hands-on experience developing testbenches using SystemVerilog, with the OVM and/or UVM

  • Experience with EDA tools used for design verification

  • Ability to drive activities to closure

  • Experience working with multidiscipline engineering teams

  • Experience with the verification of complex electronic systems

  • Motivated self-starter with leadership skills and ability to effectively work in a team environment

  • Excellent problem solving skills, judgment, and analytical capability

  • Experience presenting technical information to program teams and/or customers

  • Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Active DOD Security Clearance.

  • Strong understanding of Product Lifecycle management processes

  • Demonstrated success managing all design verification aspects of requirements definition, planning, design, integration, test and coverage closure for complex Electronic Warfare systems

  • Prior Project Engineer / Control Account Manager (CAM) experience, including managing earned value metrics, such as Cost Performance Index (CPI) and Schedule Performance Index (SPI).

  • Proficiency using MS Office and MS Project

  • Experience in FPGA and/or ASIC development

  • Digital Signal Processing experience

  • Matlab/Simulink experience

  • Perl/Python experience

  • VHDL Design experience

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $131331 - $223309

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
