WEST DELAWARE CO COMMUNITY SCHOOL Custodian - Events Nights and Weekends in Manchester, Iowa

[West Delaware is seeking applicants for an Event Custodian - weekend and night shift schedule according to events at the High School. Starting wage is $15.58 (includes a $1 night shift rate premium)]{open="" sans=""}

  1. Be in the assigned building at all times except when custodial responsibilities require assistance in other areas. Notify the office when it is necessary to be out of assigned building.
  2. Report to a Lead Custodian who is responsible for the direction of housekeeping and custodial services in the facility.
  3. Maintain the facility in a condition of excellent cleanliness.
  4. Clean and sanitize restrooms/bathrooms using established practices and procedures.
  5. Clean, dust, and wipe furniture; sweep, mop, or vacuum floors; empty/clean wastebaskets and trash containers; replace light bulbs; refill restroom dispensers in areas assigned to you.
  6. Assist with the setup of facilities for meetings, classrooms, conferences, events, etc.
  7. Strip, clean, buff and apply floor sealer and floor finish to hard surface floors, vacuum and shampoo carpets.
  8. Use and maintain assigned power equipment and hand tools; buffers, auto scrubbers, extractors, high pressure washers, vacuums, brooms, mops, and squeegees for the cleaning and general maintenance of floors, walls, carpets, furniture, etc.
  9. Wash walls and equipment; use ladders when required in work assignments.
  10. Lock and unlock assigned buildings: secure building when facilities are not in use checking for unlocked doors and windows, report any unauthorized occupants, turn off lights.
  11. Follow district procedures for clean-up of vomit and other body fluids.
  12. Assist in the unloading of commodities for district.
  13. Follow instructions regarding the use of chemicals and supplies. Use as directed.
  14. Perform cleaning and related activities such as removing snow or debris from outside sidewalks and stairs.
  15. Perform outside lawn care duties as needed.
  16. Move furniture, equipment, supplies and tools on an incidental basis.
  17. Wash accessible interior and exterior windows.
  18. Demonstrate essential physical and mental capabilities in the following: Interpersonal skills, memory, attention to detail, following directions, comprehension, calculating, reading, writing, speaking, evaluating, mathematics, organizing and innovation as necessary to complete custodian responsibilities.
  19. Report needed major repairs and damage.
  20. Comply with fire ordinances, school rules, and laws.
  21. Perform duties in a positive manner promoting positive public relations with other employees, students, and general public.
  22. Performs other related duties as assigned by supervisor.
