Amazon Web Services (AWS) are seeking Logistics Specialists as part of our Work Based Learning Program (WBLP). This position requires the successful candidate report to a site location. Amazon has multiple WBLP trainee openings between January - March 2025. Trainees will participate in our 12-month work and training program in our Northern Virginia facilities.

All physical requirements are expected with reasonable accommodations:

• Regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds; and participate in group lifts for 41+ pounds

• Ability to work in an environment that operates 24/7 with an ability to participate in primary responder rotation and provide after-hours support as needed

• Working in cramped and/or elevated and/or noisy environments

• Bending, lifting, stretching, reaching, standing and walking for up to 8+ hours a day

• Ascending and descending ladders, stairs, and gangways safely and without limitation

Key job responsibilities

• Data entry and resolving questions from peer organizations

• Ensure that all billing associated with the Inventory supply chain is accurate, validated and ready for processing

• Assembling, addressing, stamping and arranging for the shipment of merchandise and materials

• Assist in daily scheduling of deliveries and pick-ups to and from production locations

• Keep precise records of all commodities going in and out of company

A day in the life

The Logistics Specialist reviews Data Center inventory, in-bound shipments, and ongoing demand to ensure that proper stock levels are maintained in the all locations to support build and repair activities. Working with the Logistics Manager, you will create plans to optimize the flow of parts through their lifecycle; tracking inventory location, movement, age, and turns. You will work closely with Data Center Operations Technicians and Data Center Engineers to fulfill parts quickly and accurately. You will also work with Procurement and Hardware Engineering to purchase new parts and interface directly with vendors to process RMAs and receive replacements. Regular and ongoing communications with vendors to resolve issues and help them understand our business requirements necessitates a high-level communicator.

In addition, Logistics Specialists are expected to understand all aspects of production, adhere to strict safety standards, maintain very high quality, and be willing and able to work on powered equipment (i.e forklift or cherry picker).

All candidates should be willing to work both independently and with a team. Work prioritization, organization skills, effective communication, and the ability to react quickly are critical to being successful.

You will be required to work shift work that will include days/nights/weekends/holidays. Traveling within the regional work area is required. You will be responsible for having a reliable personal vehicle and a valid driver’s license to travel within the regional work area, as company transportation will not be provided.

Basic Qualifications

  • High school or equivalent diploma

  • Are 18 years of age or older

  • Willingness to participate in shift rotations to support 24/7 data center operations

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of computer hardware components and operating systems

  • Experience managing work and priorities through a ticketing system and coordination with Manager

  • STEM classes or vocational course curriculum education

  • Experience with Microsoft Office products and applications

  • Meets/exceeds Amazon’s leadership principles requirements and functional/technical depths and complexity for this role
