Actalent Manufacturing Engineer in Manassas, Virginia

Description:

Our client is looking for a Manufacturing/Mechanical Engineer to help with the design of their aircraft builds. The current tasking will be supporting NASA's Electrified Powertrain Flight Demonstration Program (EPFD). This engineer will be part of a team that is responsible for the delivery of aircraft parts and assemblies.

Responsibilities:

  • Service the development production and delivery of aerostructure components and assemblies.

  • Create and maintain Engineering masters and operations work orders through an electronic ERP System SAP.

  • Main interface with internal or external design engineering services.

  • Prevent process bottlenecks and improve processes for the manufacturing engineering activities.

  • Follow established company procedures and project execution processes.

  • Performs to individual and company objectives and metrics. Incorporates lean manufacturing principles and participates in process improvement initiatives.

  • Create part inspection check lists first article inspections manufacturing planning documents inspection sheets request for change inquiries purchase orders inspect drawings prepare bid packages for the suppliers/vendors prepare basis of estimates and quotes in support of business proposals provide support to the production floor with drawing and technical specifications interpretations.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

Required Skills/Qualifications:

  • BS degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology Mechanical/Manufacturing/Aerospace preferred from an accredited university.

  • 2+ years of experience within manufacturing or mechanical engineering for production.

  • Demonstrated ability to use Microsoft Excel Word and PowerPoint

  • Experience utilizing ERP/MRP planning systems and bill of material interrogation for process planning.

  • Must also understand the financial and scheduling metrics in successfully executing a program.

    Preferred Skills/Qualifications:

  • Experience with fabrication of avionics harnessing is a plus.

  • Have the ability to work from the design for a product and develop processes for production standards and quality control.

  • Experience with fabrication of various metals and/ or composites.

  • Experience with aerostructure manufacturing and assembly

  • CAD software SolidWorks or Catia5 preferred
