JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
To perform the job successfully, the Applications Engineer must be able to perform each of the following duties:
Develop intimate knowledge of Xylem’s proprietary and specific inline inspection equipment but not limited to e.g. SmartBall, PipeDiver, Sahara, PureRobotics, PipeWalker, SoundPrint AFO, etc.
Identify and report pipeline specific criteria (e.g. features, configuration, and hydraulic conditions, etc.) that may impact the success of a proposed inline inspection project.
Review pipeline plan and profile drawings and create digital representations of the information.
Create Google Earth KMLs, Site Visit Packages, and/or Draft Inspection Plans.
Assist in conducting of Site Visits (on-site or remote).
Review of pipeline video data and correlate with pipe list.
Additional duties and responsibilities may be required based on the organization’s needs.
Create graphs and representations such as indicative pressure, indicative hydraulic model, and velocity profiles.
Regularly update and submit project timesheets in a timely manner.
This role requires a target utilization (billable) rate of 80%.
KEY COMPETENCIES:
Proficient in understanding and interpreting engineering data and drawings.
Understanding pipeline networks and hydraulics is an advantage.
Emphasis on delivering high quality output.
Effective problem-solving abilities, sense of urgency and time management.
Demonstrate proactivity and keen attention to detail.
Excellent mechanical aptitude.
Ability to work independently and within a team environment depending on the nature and requirement of the task.
Adaptive to constructive change and practice Continuous Improvement.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Tools (specifically MS Excel).
Knowledge in drafting/modeling software is an advantage (specifically Autodesk Inventor).
WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Experience related to field work, consulting, construction, and engineering background is an asset.
Project management experience is a plus.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Candidate must at least be a graduate of any Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree (Mechanical, Civil, or equivalent). Possessing a professional or registered license is an advantage but not required.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
The Applications Engineer will be working in a hybrid set-up (on-site and remote) and may be required by the Applications Engineer Supervisor or Xylem to report to work as needed.
Standard working time is forty (40) hours per week. Overtime may be required as needed.
Must have a stable internet connection for remote work environment.
