Northrop Grumman, Space Systems, is currently seeking an Industrial Engineer to join our team. This position will be supporting the Propulsion Systems Division at our facility located at Bacchus Utah .

  • The right engineer will be passionate about driving business performance while developing their technical and leadership skills. In this position, you will have exposure to and be expected to become a trusted advisor to senior and executive leadership.

  • Our Industrial Engineering team members are trained on and use the Toyota Production System. We spend most of our time on the shop floor, so we can be the first to understand problems and rapidly iterate solutions. We are at the forefront of working with operations and support teams to eliminate waste, improve throughput and reduce cycle times to enable business growth across our portfolio. You must be an ambitious self-starter to succeed in this role.

  • The successful candidate will apply their technical aptitude to create and maintain a pull system in our Nozzle Value Stream. They will be involved in the development of lean processes supporting the shop floor and functional groups, and they will be a skilled communicator with the ability to speak to all levels of the organization, from Executives to Operators.

  • This role requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail, a willingness to support all northern Utah campuses, and a desire to facilitate conversations and continuous improvement events to help solve our most complex operational and process problems. The best candidate will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information in simplified terms. The job will give you extensive exposure across the organization, and thus requires a strong work ethic and the ability to maintain productivity in a high-pressure environment.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Observe, understand and model the Least Waste Way

  • Positively impact the business by working with other engineering and non-engineering disciplines to eliminate waste and improve processes

  • Communicate effectively at all levels of the organization

  • Work collaboratively across disciplines to develop solutions with an emphasis on timeliness and execution

  • Design and implement processes to improve efficiency and flow throughout the factory and back office

  • Facilitate continuous improvement events to develop, define and improve processes in PS’ Nozzle Value Stream

  • Create, publish and analyze production performance metrics

  • Special studies and projects

  • Create staffing models based on work content

  • Facilities and workplace design

Basic Qualifications:

This position can be filled at either a level 01 or level 02.

Basic Qualifications for a Level 01

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering Degree from an ABET accredited university

  • Strong preference for Industrial Engineer

Basic Qualifications for a Level 02

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering Degree from an ABET accredited university with 2-5 years of industrial engineering experience

  • Strong preference for Industrial Engineer

Salary Range: $56,600 - $85,000

Salary Range 2: $68,500 - $102,700

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
