Northrop Grumman Space Systems is currently recruiting for an Associate Power Systems and Controls Engineer 1/2 to join our team at our Bacchus facility, located in Magna, Utah .
Job Summary including Duties and Responsibilities:
Work as part of a multi-disciplined project team
Comprehensive power system design, control systems, and machine safety experience.
Ability to manage large complex projects with skills in power, control and electrical industrial automation.
Design power and control systems for industrial process equipment used in the manufacturing of solid propulsion rocket motors, manufacturing facilities and manufacturing equipment.
Have a working knowledge of how to program Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) used to control a variety of equipment, processes, machine tools, and robotics, including Allen Bradley PLC’s and Rockwell Software.
Design low & medium voltage power distribution systems; specify power distribution equipment, transformers and switch gear; MCC’s, power distribution panels, high resistance grounds, UPS’s and back-up generators.
Develop control philosophies and P&ID’s.
Design electrical control systems using Allen-Bradley PLC’s and Schneider SmartX controllers.
Develop the following types of electrical drawings: P&ID’s, one-line diagrams, schematics, panel arrangements, bill of materials, device layouts, power distribution, control distribution, loop diagrams, panel schedules, conduit layouts and grounding plans.
Design, specify, and program servo drives & variable frequency drives (VFD) for all types of motor control applications.
Design the following other types of support systems: Fire detection and reporting systems, camera & audio surveillance systems, lightning & grounding protection systems, ethernet & fiber communications systems.
Oversee installation and startup of newly designed systems with both internal craft & outside contractors.
Oversee an electrical project from conception to completion.
The ability to develop drawing packages using AutoCAD.
Provide detailed cost estimates for project design and implementation.
Develop electrical maintenance guidelines for industrial equipment.
Work with maintenance craftsmen to troubleshoot issues.
Project management with supervision over all aspects of a project including mechanical, civil, and other crafts overseeing budget and schedule.
Requirements:
BS in Electrical Engineering
Position may be filled at a higher level requiring BS in Electrical Engineering and 2 years experience
Power system design experience
Industrial control design experience
PLC systems and programming experience
Motion Control experience
Servo motor and drive experience
Excellent communication skills.
Ability to work in the field, climb ladders, work outside and work in congested areas.
Salary Range: $62,200 - $93,400
Salary Range 2: $75,300 - $112,900
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
