Amazon Software Development Engineer, Business Prime in Madrid, Spain

Our mission for Business Prime is to create a flywheel where business customers receive disproportionate convenience, value, and empowerment as they deepen their engagement with Amazon.

One of the key programs, recently launched in February 2024 in the US as an exclusive benefit for Amazon Business Prime customers, is Amazon Business Prime Rewards program. This program allows Business Prime customers to earn rewards points by making purchases or completing high-value actions (HVAs). The accumulated points can then be used towards future purchases by the entire business.

Madrid Business Prime Rewards team is seeking a talented software developer to lead, design, and drive the new ambitious Rewards program initiatives, HVAs and internationalization. You'll have the freedom and encouragement to experiment, improve, invent, and innovate on behalf of our customers.

You will play an active role in building new Rewards offers in partnership with other technology leaders within and outside the team. Key job responsibilities

As a member of our software engineering team, you can expect to:

  • Work closely with our UX and PMs to define and implement requirements and the best user experience

  • Technical design and implementation of services involved in Rewards core functionality

  • Influence other team’s tech stacks inside and outside Business Prime org

  • Full E2E ownership of the Rewards Program

  • Write high quality, maintainable code and perform peer code-reviews

  • Mentor new talent in a rapidly growing team

A day in the life

  • Be part of all the software development cycle stages in a team with a clear Agile (scrum) established methodology

  • Design, develop and maintain at scale a variety of stacks which includes front end (React) and back end (Java) components running on AWS.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to disambiguate and overcome the challenges on the way.

About the team

As a relatively new team (3.5 years), we carry little tech debt.

We prioritize writing high quality and maintainable code sticking to Agile (Scrum) methodologies, and build systems that leverage existing tools to provide extensive test coverage across our services.

Basic Qualifications

  • Experience in professional, non-internship software development

  • Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design

  • Experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems

  • Experience with full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

  • Experience building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers
