JOB REQUIREMENTS: Specimen Control and Receiving Technician - 29737 DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES: Work Schedule : This is a full-time, FTE 1.0, 1st shift position. Start times vary depending on need; Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm or 8:15am - 4:45pm or 8:45am - 5:15pm. Hours may vary based on department needs. We are seeking a Specimen Control and Receiving Tech to: * Receive specimens and research kits into the laboratory, check for correct labeling, enter tests into Laboratory Information System, process specimens, and load them onto instruments or direct to appropriate work station, technologist, or storage area. * Basic instrument maintenance (temperatures, monitoring reagents) and clerical duties (filing, mailing, faxing). * Interact daily with pathologists, physicians, technologists, clinical staff, nursing unit personnel, and patients. Preferred - Some post-secondary education in a healthcare or a related science field that may include course work in Medical Laboratory Technician, Cytotechnologist, Histotechnician or Medical Laboratory Scientist degree/certification.
