JOB REQUIREMENTS: Job Summary: This role presents an exciting opportunity for an organized and detail-oriented individual to contribute to the success of groundbreaking neuroscience research within a dynamic laboratory setting. The Research Specialist is a pivotal position responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of the laboratory and supporting scientific research endeavors. This individual will play a crucial role in coordinating and overseeing day-to-day activities, including managing lab resources, maintaining equipment, and ordering supplies. They will collaborate closely with the lab\'s principal investigators and scientists, assisting in experimental setups, data collection, and troubleshooting technical issues that may arise during experiments. The Research Specialist will be responsible for maintaining accurate records, managing data repositories, and ensuring compliance with laboratory protocols and safety regulations. Responsibilities: Develops, designs, and conducts one or more research projects and organizes daily operation of projects and specialized research areas to ensure work meets established objectives under moderate supervision. 20% Conducts research experiments according to established research protocols with moderate impact to the project(s). Collects data and monitors test results 20% Operates, cleans, and maintains organization of research equipment and research area. Tracks inventory levels and places replenishment orders 15% Reviews, analyzes, and interprets data and/or documents results for presentations and/or reporting to internal and external audiences 15% Participates in the development, interpretation, and implementation of research methodology and materials 20% Provides operational guidance on day-to-day activities of unit or program staff and/or student workers 10% Performs literature reviews and writes reports Institutional Statement on Diversity: Diversity is a source of strength, creativity, and innovation for UW-Madison.
