JOB REQUIREMENTS: Job Summary: The Lo Sardo laboratory is seeking a strongly motivated candidate to join the lab which studies how genetic risk factors increase human disease susceptibility, particularly cardiovascular disease and cancer. The lab uses induced Pluripotent Stem Cells (iPSCs), genome editing, transcriptomic and functional assays to dissect the role of human-specific genetic risk factors in cell fate commitment, cell state maintenance and tissue homeostasis. The lab has a very young environment, numerous exciting projects and cutting-edge translational research. We are research lovers and very eager to understand more about human biology. The Research Specialist will be involved in different lab projects and technical support in various aspects. The position\'s experimental duties include: working with mammalian cell culture, primarily human iPSCs; use of several molecular biology techniques, including nucleic acid extraction, PCR, qPCR, CRISPR assays, cloning, transcriptomic analysis, live microscopy and fluorescent microscopy analysis. The Specialist will also assist the PI to maintain orders, organization and lab instruments. The Lo Sardo lab is part of the Cell and Regenerative Biology Department at the University of Wisconsin Madison School of Medicine and Public Health. We are located in the Wisconsin Institute for Medical Research (WIMR). Responsibilities: Develops, designs, and conducts one or more research projects and organizes daily operation of projects and specialized research areas to ensure work meets established objectives under moderate supervision. 50% Conducts research experiments according to established research protocols with moderate impact to the project(s). Collects data and monitors test results 10% Operates, cleans, and maintains organization of research equipment and research area.
