U W-MADISON DIV. CONTINUING STUDIES Research Specialist in MADISON, Wisconsin

JOB REQUIREMENTS: Job Summary: The Research Specialist will work the Aufhauser Lab at the UW-Madison Transplant Center in the Department of Surgery at the UW Madison School of Medicine and Public Health. The primary focus of the laboratory is identifying new strategies to facilitate clinical xenotransplantation, the transplant of organs from animals into humans, and alleviate organ shortages. Secondary focuses of the lab include normothermic regional perfusion. The successful applicant will contribute to research using 2- and 3-dimensional cell culture models, humanized mice, and non-human primate models. Experience with cell culture, mouse models, flow cytometry, microscopy, and histology are beneficial. Responsibilities: Develops, designs, and conducts one or more research projects and organizes daily operation of projects and specialized research areas to ensure work meets established objectives under moderate supervision. 50% Conducts research experiments according to established research protocols with moderate impact to the project(s). Collects data and monitors test results 10% Operates, cleans, and maintains organization of research equipment and research area. Tracks inventory levels and places replenishment orders 20% Reviews, analyzes, and interprets data and/or documents results for presentations and/or reporting to internal and external audiences 20% Participates in the development, interpretation, and implementation of research methodology and materials Institutional Statement on Diversity: Diversity is a source of strength, creativity, and innovation for UW-Madison.
