JOB REQUIREMENTS: Job Summary: The primary role of this position is to support members of the Department of Surgery engaged in sponsored research through professional administration to maintain and build on the vibrant and expanding Surgery research portfolio. This includes: - Advising and assisting faculty and academic staff in developing and submitting grant applications, contract proposals, and progress and final reports (and related budgets for all). - Keeping faculty and appropriate staff apprised of the status of grants, current contract or grant policies, and regulations and guidelines made by granting agencies (especially NIH) and campus research offices. - Serving as a liaison with principal investigators (PIs) and granting agencies (including electronic research administration/ERA issues), University offices, etc. - Meeting with faculty and academic staff to identify research interests and to develop funding strategies and plan. The person in this position will need to obtain a thorough knowledge of grant proposal development and the conduct of research and administration of research activity. Responsibilities: Works directly with principal investigator(s) and/or research program director(s) to carry out research administrative functions related sponsored grants, agreements, or award management (proposal preparation through closeout). 15% Serves as a liaison and expert resource for researchers regarding the interpretation of policy and procedure related to overall sponsored project management 30% Works collaboratively with researchers to prepare non-technical materials for proposals, drafting contracts or agreements for review, and/or advising award setup 20% Leads researchers in the preparation and/or maintenance documentation, financial management, and/or reporting requirements related to sponsored grants, contracts, or agreements 5% May identify funding opportunities and disseminate to principal investigators 15% Maintains and monitors grants and contract budgets 15% Assures compliance with grant, contract or agreement requirements and determine whether objectives are being met Institutional Statement on Diversity: Diversity is a source of strength,...
