JOB REQUIREMENTS: Job Summary: The Procurement Specialist II plays a key role in the procurement processes within the Biochemistry Department. This position involves procuring essential commodities and contractual services while adhering to State of Wisconsin and University of Wisconsin Purchasing Policy and Procedures. Responsibilities include sourcing, purchasing, and coordinating the acquisition of goods and services. Furthermore, the Procurement Specialist II maintains detailed financial records related to purchasing, simplified bids, and contracts. They oversee pre audits of purchasing expenses to ensure compliance with established protocols. This role is critical in maintaining efficiency and accuracy in procurement activities. Responsibilities: Researches, creates, and solicits bids and proposals from third party suppliers for critical, complex, and/or unique institution level procurements to provide cost-effective materials and services within an assigned commodity area or business unit. Negotiates contract terms and signs resulting contracts on behalf of the institution. Provides peer guidance and proposes procurement strategies to senior leadership to support operational excellence of procurement functions. 10% Leads the development of complex solicitations requiring creative approaches to evaluation of third party sourcing options in compliance with regulatory requirements 5% Leads and executes the research of suppliers to understand available products and services, assesses market conditions, identifies supply options, and makes recommendations 20% Drafts, submits, and communicates outcomes of procurement requests to suppliers, stakeholders, and institutional leadership 20% Answers questions and provides guidance regarding specific commodities and service areas to various individuals and groups based on set material or standards 5% Prepares and disseminates business cases to appropriate audiences, proposes strategic sourcing, and authors programs to stakeholders and institutional leadership 10% Implements required reporting protocols with suppliers to allow measurement of cost savings, reduction, avoidance, supplier management, and risk mitigation programs and...
