Description
Our client, a leading organization in Madison, WI, is seeking an experienced Oracle Database Administrator to join their team. This role will focus on managing and scaling their large Oracle database environment, with plans to transition their data warehouse to Microsoft in 2025. This is an exciting opportunity to work on a fast-growing database environment, projected to expand from 10TB to 60TB in the coming years.
Responsibilities:
Manage and optimize Oracle databases (10TB+), with data growth of 500GB per month.
Oversee Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) modules, including template management, lifecycle management, audits, reporting, and fleet patching.
Implement and maintain Real Application Clusters (RAC).
Perform backup and recovery using RMAN.
Automate patching processes and manage Information Lifecycle Management (ILM).
Configure advanced compression and automated database/grid patching.
Transition GoldenGate and DB Clone setups.
Work closely with Oracle Utility Frameworks (OUF) and C2M architecture/tools.
Collaborate with teams to support partitioning, automation, and database administration tasks.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Proven experience managing large-scale Oracle databases (10TB+).
Expertise in Oracle Real Application Cluster (RAC).
Proficiency in RMAN for backup and recovery.
Strong understanding of Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) modules and monitoring.
Experience with automating patching and implementing advanced compression.
Knowledge of Information Lifecycle Management (ILM).
Hands-on experience with database/grid patching automation.
Familiarity with Microsoft SQL Server environments is a plus.
No Cloud-based experience required; this role is focused on on-premise database management.
This is an onsite role based in Madison, WI. The client is open to contract or contract-to-hire arrangements. This position offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with a highly skilled team.
Requirements • Ten or more years of experience in Oracle Database Administration
• Proficiency in Oracle DBA, with a focus on managing large databases
• Extensive knowledge of Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) operations
• Experience with Oracle Real Application Cluster and Real Application Clusters (RAC)
• Demonstrated expertise in using RMAN for database backup and recovery
• Familiarity with Patching techniques to keep databases secure
• Proficient in Microsoft SQL and Microsoft SQL Server
• Experience in the gas industry is highly desirable
• Ability to work in a team and communicate effectively with various stakeholders
• Proven track record of problem-solving and critical thinking
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field is required
• Relevant Oracle and Microsoft certifications are a plus Technology Doesn't Change the World, People Do.®
