JOB REQUIREMENTS: Job Summary: Full-time Teaching Professor position teaching a 3/2 course load and serving as the Director of the African Language Program. Teaching Professors are expected to teach undergraduate level courses of various sizes. This position specifically will offer an introductory pedagogy course on African language instruction, an online introduction to less-commonly-taught-language (LCTL) self-instruction course, an online multi-language seminar for students engaged in self-instruction, and additional topics courses with variable content. Responsibilities associated with directing the African language program include: training, supervising, and on-boarding all African languages instructors and Fulbright Language Teaching Assistants (FLTAs); reviewing and providing feedback on course syllabi and course schedules; overseeing the development of new elementary curriculum for elementary language classes; annual evaluation of African language instructors; coordination of course-share language program with other Big Ten Academic Alliance; and monitoring student progress in language courses offered. In addition to teaching and the responsibilities associated with directing the African language program, the Language Director is expected to participate in departmental & university service. Designs and facilitates classroom, online, and/or laboratory instruction within an academic discipline to ensure quality delivery of instruction and integration of content within an academic work unit. Each department must define the specific substantive criteria for level advancement, however, differences between successively higher title levels must reflect demonstrable differences in experience and knowledge gained, applied to the specific duties of the function. Provides for-credit instruction in formats such as classroom, online and/or laboratory settings, including grading.
