Job Description:

APPOINTMENT: June 1, 2024; this is a temporary 3-year position

RESPONSIBILITIES: Facilitate all aspects of the two-year MAT Program residency; provide potential candidates with comprehensive program information; and complete all Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE)-required licensure entitlement processes for both the Educator Licensure with Stipulations endorsed for Alternative Provisional Educator (ELS-APE) and the full Professional Educator License (PEL).

Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

  • A Master\'s degree from an accredited institution.
  • Knowledge of and experience within the United States PK-12 teacher education system.
  • 4 or more years of teaching in a United States PK-12 public school.
  • Experience as a field supervisor for education students in clinical settings.
  • Experience guiding students through college/university level academic programs, policies, and regulations.
  • Experience working within an information technologies system.
  • Experience training others to use Google Suite Applications.
  • Experience providing professional development to new teachers.
  • Experience leading virtual meetings with Zoom, including the use of breakout rooms.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and balance a variety of tasks at once.
  • Superior attention to detail.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability and desire to work evenings as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience guiding students through WIU\'s academic policies and regulations.
  • Working with WIU\'s information technologies system is highly preferred.
  • Experience with the Danielson Evaluation system.
  • Experience with alternative licensure programs.
  • Experience with learning management systems.
  • Experience writing grant proposals.
  • Experience hiring and supervising individuals.

The position is located in the Office of Teacher Education located in the College of Education and Human Services. The Office of Teacher Education supports teacher education and graduate education programs and serves the needs of students, alumni, and the professional community. The Office works with prospective students, current students, alumni, and those seeking initial or subsequent licensure or who have questions about licensure; endorsements; or other teacher, school service personnel, or administrative matters.
