Senior Technical Lead, Data Office

About the Contract

Provide senior leadership and technical oversight for the Data Office at USCENTCOM, HQ Tampa, Florida, covering both CONUS and OCONUS operations. Managing a diverse team of Power Platform Developers, Cloud Software Developers, Data Engineers, and Data Scientists. The contract encompasses IT strategy, data management, cloud-based application development, data engineering, and advanced analytics. This role is integral to creating a data-centric environment, driving data strategy, and fostering collaboration across departments to support mission-critical decision-making.

Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Technical Lead for the Data Office to lead a skilled team focused on delivering advanced data solutions for USCENTCOM’s J6 team. This role involves overseeing the development, deployment, and maintenance of Power Platform applications, cloud software, data pipelines, and data science solutions within an Agile framework. The Technical Lead will collaborate with the Data Office team to align IT initiatives with USCENTCOM’s strategic goals, providing guidance on best practices for data management, analytics, and cloud-based solutions.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead the Execution of Data Initiatives: Manage the development and execution of strategic data projects, including app development, cloud-based analytics, data engineering, and advanced AI/ML models, to support USCENTCOM’s data-driven objectives.

  • Oversee Power Platform and Cloud Application Development: Direct a team of Power Platform Developers and Cloud Software Developers to create applications that streamline operations, enhance user experience, and facilitate data access across the organization.

  • Guide Data Engineering and Data Science Teams: Lead Data Engineers using Azure Data Lake and Power Platform, as well as Data Scientists using Azure Synapse, to ensure seamless data integration, infrastructure maintenance, and deployment of analytics tools.

  • Collaborate with USCENTCOM Data Officers and DoD Community: Coordinate with the Executive Data Officer (XDO) and participate in cross-functional teams to interpret organizational needs, define data-driven use cases, and recommend best practices to enable effective decision-making.

  • Implement Data Stewardship and Governance Protocols: Ensure data is tagged, cataloged, and securely stored in the data warehouse, establishing governance standards to maintain data integrity and support data stewardship within USCENTCOM.

  • Manage Data Pipelines and ETL Processes: Oversee the development and optimization of data pipelines, utilizing ETL/ELT practices for gold, silver, and bronze data sets, and ensure efficient data movement and accessibility across the Data Analytic Environment (DAE).

  • Promote Innovation and Efficiency in Data Management: Guide the team in creating data models, automating workflows, and implementing APIs to improve data accessibility, reduce redundancy, and support data-driven decision-making across systems.

Education

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

  • Approximately 3-5 years of experience in application development, particularly with Power Platform.

  • Required: Possesses a DoD directive 8140

Required Skills

  • Strong Technical Leadership Skills with experience in managing cross-functional teams, including Power Platform Developers, Cloud Software Developers, Data Engineers, and Data Scientists.

  • Proficiency in Azure and Power Platform Technologies , including Azure Synapse, Azure API Management, and Azure Data Lake, with a deep understanding of cloud infrastructure and data integration.

  • Experience with Azure Government Cloud and a demonstrated understanding of DoD’s data strategy and data mesh/fabric architectures.

  • Advanced Knowledge of Python and C# for supporting automation, data processing, and cloud application development.

  • Proven Track Record in Data Governance and Data Architecture , with a focus on establishing and maintaining secure, scalable, and compliant data solutions.

  • Strong Communication Skills , with the ability to present technical information effectively to senior military and government officials.

Desired Skills

  • Experience with ETL/ELT Processes and managing data workflows, with the ability to structure data into Gold, Silver, and Bronze layers for optimized reporting and analysis.

  • Familiarity with USCENTCOM networks and their unique data requirements.

  • Cloud certifications, including Azure, AWS, or Power Platform certifications.

Clearance Requirement

Active Secret required; TS/SCI clearance applicable.

The likely salary range for this position is $119,000 - $161,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
