Qualifications
New York State Certification, with strong language arts and learning styles background.

Responsibilities
An individual who is optimistic, who sees events positively and anticipates the best possible outcome.
Able to encourage and sustain others’ efforts as they work toward goals.
Helps to identify students who are failing or at risk of failing. Participates in the problem- solving process to identify the cause of the failure with Instructional Support Team (IST) team and building team.
Conducts curriculum-based assessments to discover students' instructional levels and learning needs.
Identifies instructional strategies and practices that increase student achievement.
Teach these strategies to the students and to classroom teachers.
Models class-wide applications of these instructional strategies and practices within the classroom, for implementation by the classroom teachers.
Supports teachers in the implementation of effective instruction in classrooms throughout the school.
Encourages and facilitates networking among teachers within each school.
Assists grade-level and building ISTs in developing effective team practices.
Develops a system of documenting student interventions for communication with teachers and parents.
Gathers and reports appropriate systems data.
Participation in IST training and Classroom Intervention Training with the building IST Team.
Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and other personnel.
Participates in activities for professional growth.
Participates in relevant decision-making groups.
Prepares for instruction and maintains appropriate written lesson plans.
Focuses on student outcomes as the primary aspect of instruction.
Confers with students and parents as needed.
Works cooperatively with school personnel, students, and the community.
Carries out any assigned duties and/or responsibilities, which may be deemed appropriate by the Superintendent of Schools (or designee) and the Board of Education.

Performs related duties as required or assigned.
Evaluation
Performance of this job will be evaluated annually by the Building Principal, the Building Assistant Principal, the Assistant Superintendent for Instruction, and other administrators as designated by the Superintendent, in accordance with the terms established by the Agreement between the Superintendent and the Lyons Teachers' Association and Board of Education policy.
