Actalent Electrical Designer in Lyndhurst, Virginia

Job Title: Electrical DesignerJob Description

The Electrical Designer will key and design electrical controls and power systems. The role involves producing preliminary and final design drawings and documentation through CAD programs, completing required design calculations, and designing lighting for industrial warehousing. You will also create Bills of Materials (BOM) and enter data into the ERP system, assist with purchasing related materials, and provide support during the building and installation process.

Responsibilities

  • Produce preliminary and final design drawings and documentation through CAD programs.

  • Complete required design calculations.

  • Design lighting for industrial warehousing.

  • Create controls bill of materials and take-offs.

  • Assist with the purchasing of related materials.

  • Create designs in line with company procedures, regulations, and client standards.

  • Submit drawings to upper management and construction teams.

  • Provide support during the building and installation process to ensure the machine is built properly and according to design specifications.

  • Build Bills of Materials (BOM) for each design and enter the data into the ERP system.

  • Consult with fabrication teams during product manufacturing, advising them on design specifications and providing physical assistance when required.

  • Work with the purchasing team on material orders.

  • Communicate with vendors on part specification and fabrication.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Project Manager.

Essential Skills

  • 2-5 years of experience in electrical system design.

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.

  • Professional experience with AutoCAD or other CAD programs.

  • Strong understanding of engineering principles, with a focus on electrical systems.

  • Ability to pass pre-employment and regular drug testing.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME preferred).

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience managing large-scale industrial refrigeration or related projects.

  • Proven leadership abilities with experience managing cross-functional teams.

  • Strong negotiation skills and the ability to solve complex issues independently within project constraints.

  • Excellent organizational, documentation, and project management skills.

  • Proficiency in project management software and familiarity with CAD and engineering drawings.

  • Expertise in ammonia and CO2-based refrigeration systems (preferred).

  • Professional Engineering License (preferred).

  • Willingness to travel to construction sites nationwide (preferred).

Work Environment

The work environment is based at the headquarters in Lyndhurst, which has approximately 250 employees, including 80 engineers and 120 in operations. The company has doubled in size over the last two years and specializes in designing, fabricating, and installing customized, turn-key industrial refrigeration systems. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $85000.00 - $140000.00
