BWXT’s Nuclear Operations Group - Lynchburg is currently seeking a Senior .Net Application Modernization Developer for its Lynchburg, VA location!

The Senior .Net Application Modernization Developer will help lead the migration of legacy mainframe applications from mainframe to Windows while assisting in the design and development of modernized .Net replacements where appropriate. This may include developing web UI experiences to front legacy Cobol backend processes as well as new application development to replace and refactor legacy code and logic.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

  • Designs, implements, and maintains applications that support the quality requirements of products manufactured at BWXT NOG-L.

  • Designs, implements, tests, and documents software, while providing user support.

  • Complete projects that include support of Windows Forms applications written in Visual Basic and C#, along with a few small intranet sites.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in an IT field. A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Science, or Information Management is preferred.

  • Must possess at least ten (10) years of related experience.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work both independently or as part of a team.

  • Knowledge of application development using Microsoft .NET tools with relational databases (Oracle, SQL Server).

  • Must be a U.S. citizen with no dual citizenship.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with Entity Framework, Azure DevOps, and Agile development.

  • Familiarity Rocket Software Enterprise Server & Visual Cobol (formally MicroFocus).

Pay: $75,000 - $125,000

The base salary range for this position in VA at the start of employment is expected to be between $75,000 and $125,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors, and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed 'at-will,’ unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement. The company further reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment, compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and other market factors.
