Job Description

Further develop your expertise and join our team as Senior Scientist I (all genders) Process Engineering SM CMC (permanent / fulltime).

The purpose of the role is to execute and lead drug product development projects. Conceive and execute novel scientific research or development that achieves projects and area goals. Generate new scientific proposals and lead those efforts. Investigate, identify, develop, and optimize new methods and techniques. Act as a lead scientist in his/her area of expertise and critically evaluate relevant scientific and regulatory advances and integrate this knowledge into research or development programs.

This means:

  • Conceive and execute novel scientific research or development that achieves projects and area goals. Generate new scientific proposals and lead those efforts. Investigate, identify, develop, and optimize new methods and techniques and act as a lead scientist in his/her area of expertise.

  • Demonstrate the ability to lead smaller development projects according to project goals and milestones in CMC environment and communicate to global project stakeholders.

  • Generate accurate, reliable data and effectively document experiments in the electronic laboratory notebook according to relevant GLP or GMP guidelines.

  • Independently planning, conducting, and evaluating development activities related to solid oral dosage forms and long acting injectables.

  • Demonstrate the ability to resolve project hurdles and assumptions by effectively utilizing available information and technical expertise.

  • Publish research in peer-reviewed journals and present work at scientific conferences.

  • Proactively seek out new information in the literature and incorporate this into individual projects as well as the overall program.

  • Willingness to travel to other AbbVie sites and third-party manufacturers to support and facilitate drug product projects and the technical transfer to following functions.

  • Maintain a high level of productivity in the lab.

  • Understand and adhere to corporate standards regarding code of conduct, safety, appropriate handling of materials, controlled drug and radioactive compounds, GxP compliance, and animal care where applicable.

Qualifications

This is how you can make a difference:

  • You hold a bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and typically 10 years of experience or a master’s degree or equivalent and typically 8 years of experience, PhD and no (some) experience necessary

  • You have hands-on experience and a strong theoretical understanding of relevant pharmaceutical technologies and processes such as hot melt extrusion and spray drying.

  • You are experienced in developing, manufacturing, and characterizing solid oral dosage forms and long acting injectables.

  • You are an effective writer and communicator of internal reports, external research, or other regulatory materials.

  • You work in a structured manner and fully independent.

  • You are open to working effectively with people from all parts of the world with fluent English, both written and spoken.

  • You are willing to adopt your working time to the requirement of a project in a global context.
