Position Description:

Safely performs journeyperson level tasks in the fabrication, construction, maintenance, alteration and repair of fixtures, equipment, structures, buildings, and built-in components for Texas Tech facilities. Works under general supervision with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

Major/Essential Functions:

  • Install and maintain AV systems when required.

  • Install, repair and service locks, exit devices, CCTV system components and access control devices of campus.

  • Manufacture and issue new keys.

  • Open locks and safes when combinations are lost.

  • Install door closers and automatic door operators and adjust for proper operation and compliance with ADA regulations.

  • Operate key machines, mortising machines, drill press, grinder and various hand tools.

  • Change safe and mailbox combinations and as requested.

Schedule Details:

M-F, 7:30am - 4:30pm. On-call/variable work schedule as needed

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Individual should possess mechanical skills, with knowledge of machines and tools.

  • Knowledge of circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software.

  • Knowledge of principals and processes for customer service.

Required Qualifications:

Proficiency in written and mathematical skills as may be reflected in the completion of high school or equivalent. Three years experience in designated trade or licensed journeyperson.
