UL, LLC Laboratory Technician (Electrical) in Lowell, Arkansas

The Electrical Laboratory Technician will be responsible for testing consumer electronics to ensure they meet various safety and quality assurance standards. This position requires an understanding of the basic principles of electricity; and experience with voltmeters, amp meters, battery testers, and other electrical testing equipment is highly preferred.

What an Electrical Laboratory Technician does at UL Solutions:

  • Examines and tests electrically operated test samples using established procedures including consumer household products such as: countertop appliances, computer & entertainment accessories, automotive accessories, wall chargers, power banks etc.

  • Evaluation includes quality/performance aspects as well as regulatory/compliance aspects, operational instructions, report writing.

  • Evaluates test performance and reviews test and construction data with supervisor.

  • Builds and/or adapts setup and test equipment to new situations, based on data sheets and instructions from engineering department personnel.

  • Operates designated machines and special laboratory equipment. Performs routine maintenance of designated test equipment and laboratory area.

  • May communicate with Customer Service, Technical and Regulatory support teams during the setup and performance of a test to determine correct test methods and performance, as well as interpretation of data and to discuss additional follow-up tests, samples, equipment, methods and/or results.

  • Records observed or calculated data on appropriate UL forms and prepares data sheets and test reports.

  • May plan tests, evaluate test results and report opinions and interpretations, as directed.

  • Integrates continuous improvement concepts and techniques into all aspects of the job.

  • Performs other duties as directed.

What makes you an ideal candidate:

  • Required: High school diploma or GED equivalent.

  • Required: Thorough understanding of electronic and/or electrical fundamentals.

  • Required: Ability to use complex electrical and electronics test equipment and related instruments.

  • Required: Ability to use Microsoft Office suite.

  • Required: Ability to work onsite in Lowell, AR Monday through Friday.
