UL, LLC Laboratory Assistant - Sporting Goods in Lowell, Arkansas

This Laboratory Assistant will test consumer sporting goods and related items to ensure they meet government and industry safety requirements. This Laboratory Assistant frequently moves items weighing up to 15 pounds in order to conduct proper testing procedures and will conduct some of these test procedures outdoors.

  • Builds and/or adapts basic setup and test equipment for performance of tests.

  • Performs tests using general laboratory equipment.

  • Performs routine care of designated test equipment and work area.

  • Operates computer terminal to extract/input readily available information and to use available software.

  • As directed follows defined test plans and datasheets.

  • Evaluates test performance and sample operation to properly evaluate test results.

  • Records and explains test results.

  • Reads and interprets results of tests.

  • Prepares charts, graphs and reports to explain test results.

  • Examines test samples, reads measuring instruments and reviews test data with supervisor.

  • Reads and interprets blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams and operational instructions.

  • As instructed examines customer samples and learns to operate basic tests for each case.

  • Communicates with customers during setup and operation to ensure proper evaluation.

  • Operates designated laboratory equipment and tools as directed.

  • Receives instructions from and reports data to engineers and other laboratory technician staff.

  • Records observed or calculated data on appropriate data sheets.

  • Develops working knowledge of the job, methods, instrumentation and systems.

  • Integrates continuous improvement concepts and techniques into all aspects of the job.

  • Read and follow the UL Solutions Code of Conduct and follow all physical and digital security practices.

  • Performs other duties as directed.

  • High school diploma or GED equivalency required.

  • Ability to use Microsoft Outlook and general computer proficiency required.

  • Ability to work onsite Monday through Friday in Lowell, AR required.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to utilize various tools.

  • Collaborative mindset with a strong work ethic.

  • Self-motivated with a desire for professional growth and development.

  • Physical demands include, but are not limited to, walking, standing, reaching, stooping/bending, and lifting/carrying objects.

  • Experience in an accredited laboratory setting preferred.

  • Knowledge and application of Lean Six Sigma principles preferred.
