Accounting Manager
The Accounting Manager is a highly responsible position which coordinates and manages all aspects of client accounting and financial management including but not limited to hands-on day to day accounting functions, maintenance of general ledger, preparation of financial statements, compiling and monitoring of budgets, managing cash and investments, and maintains the overall financial health of multiple assigned metropolitan, water & sanitation, park & recreation, fire protection/emergency service districts, and other various clients. This position is housed in the Finance and Accounting Department and reports to the Director of Finance and Accounting and works closely with the Assistant Director of Finance and Accounting. This position delegates work to the Assistant Accounting Manager(s), oversees their work product, provides feedback, coaches and trains and assists in establishing proficiency measures for the position but does not directly supervise. This position produces high-level quality work, ensures consistency of client service work through the application of established policies, procedures, and systems.
Supervised by: Director of Finance and Accounting and works closely with the Assistant Director of Finance and Accounting
Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Real Estate or closely related fields with 2 years' experience or Five (5) or more years of progressively responsible experience in general business, governmental accounting, community/homeowner association administration, or paralegal/legal assistant is required Knowledge of special Districts, government bidding, and Title 32 compliance regulations is preferred Experience in investment and administration processes, working knowledge of city and state government processes as it related to special districts, working knowledge of debt issuance procedures and practices is preferred Considerable knowledge in developing, evaluating, maintaining, and monitoring an effective internal control environment is preferred Thorough knowledge of core government finance practices: including budget, fund accounting, and governmental finance reporting is preferred Any combination of the required education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful performance may be considered Equipment: Must be able to operate computer, fax machine, copier, telephone, motor vehicle
Driving Requirements:
Must possess a valid Colorado Driver's License and a clean driving record Ability and means to travel locally as needed, including to and from multiple client and company worksites, proof of liability and property damage insurance on vehicle used is required
