Job Description
Our client is a legendary steak restaurant serving American cuisine and is headquartered in Louisville, KY. Their environment has 250 Windows servers (primarily on-prem) and 30 Linux servers, theyre moving from VMware 7 to 8, and are moving towards being more Linux capable as they transition to containerization. They are seeking a Windows System Admin to assist in maintaining and managing the on-prem virtualization administration and consolidating the on-prem infrastructure as they move further into the cloud (Azure/AWS). The Windows System Admin will have a solid understanding of Windows and some Linux administration with an emphasis on secure automation, hands on experience with Ansible and Terraform for IaC, a solid understanding of VMWare infrastructure and best practices for platform integration, expertise in ticketing systems to write playbooks that can automate recovery, experience with application performance monitoring tools, and have strong-problem solving, communication, and time management skills. This position is hybrid 3-day onsite per week, onsite Monday Agile Scrum planning ceremonies and Friday for sprint reviews.
Responsibilities Include:
Core DevOps & Systems Administration:
o Leverage extensive background in systems administration (Windows and Linux) within a DevOps context.
o Manage and maintain cloud infrastructure and container orchestration platforms to support scalable, resilient services.
Infrastructure as Code & Automation:
o Develop, maintain, and optimize Terraform scripts for provisioning and managing cloud resources.
o Utilize configuration management and patching tools (e.g., HashiCorp Vault, Ansible) for secure, automated deployments and updates.
VMware Integration & Windows Patching:
o Administer and troubleshoot VMware infrastructure, collaborating with internal Platform teams for seamless integrations.
o Automate and manage Windows system updates using enterprise tools such as WSUS, SCCM, or Ansible.
ServiceNow & Ticketing Systems:
o Demonstrate strong incident, problem, and change management skills by efficiently handling service requests and trouble tickets.
o Leverage ticketing platforms (ServiceNow, Jira, or Zendesk) for managing Configuration Items (CIs), Knowledge Base content, and incident resolution workflows.
Monitoring & Alerting:
o Utilize New Relic for performance monitoring, alerting, and incident response.
o Collaborate closely with internal experts to refine alert configurations, streamline issue troubleshooting, and ensure proactive infrastructure oversight.

Skills and Requirements
4+ years of Windows System Admin experience
Virtualization experience predominantly within VMWare (6-8)
Application performance monitoring tool experience Automation with IaC, Ansible (strongly preferred)
Experience using Terraform to deploy instances into VMware environment
Kubernetes
Containerization
Observability tooling to write playbooks that can automate recovery (using ServiceNow or similar tool)
Agile Scrum experience null
