The Challenge

Essential results-based Duties & Responsibilities:

Run Operation of the FirstBuild Manufacturing Facility. Includes developing strategy to execute the operational imperatives of the FirstBuild business model, creating and executing production schedule, materials procurement, all safety and risk management and mitigation, Supply Chain management, systems and automation, manufacturing budget & financial accountability, and translation of conceptual product models into fabrication and appropriately scaled production.

Percentage of time spent on the responsibilities -

Operations, Procurement & Automation (50%):

● Identify and lead the implementation of distribution capabilities for Microfactories including palletization and shipment of products for FirstBuild and Small Appliances.

● Collaborate with Digital Technology to establish automation and other technology solutions to improve productivity. Oversee implementation of those solutions that must be able to scale to support FirstBuild growth and new product offerings.

● Oversee the automation of micro-factory operations to increase productivity, decrease labor, and ensure scalability for growth.

● Determine materials, execute procurement and manage financials of operating costs to ensure budgets are met or exceeded.

● Oversee the maintenance and operations of the FirstBuild facility including.

Safety & Risk Management (30%):

● Drives FirstBuild enterprise-wide risk assessment, evaluation, and prioritization of activities related to the manufacturing and distribution of products.

● Executes risk mitigation plans to minimize, monitor, and control for unplanned/unforeseen events and situations.

● EHS - executes compliance assurance program tasks (e.g., conducting audits and inspections), performs environmental inspections, presents EHS compliance training, and works closely with operators, technicians, and skilled trades to develop a robust EHS culture and reliable processes.

Provide outstanding team leadership (20%):

● Ensure team members are executing the FirstBuild strategy and developing products and solutions that support business’ growth goals.

● Ensure that the organization has the required skills and capabilities within the manufacturing operations.

● Provide leadership, coaching, support and development opportunities to develop an excellent manufacturing and operations team.

● Develop and ensure employee capability through performance management processes, talent reviews, training and development and effective staffing decisions.

● Owns Inclusion & Diversity (I&D) strategy to foster inclusion and contribute towards our organizational diversity goals.

● Mentor and coach team members to perform at maximum levels by providing challenging assignments, timely feedback and clear direction.

● Ensure clear goals & objectives for each team, as well as individual growth plans aligned to the FirstBuild strategy.

What you will Do

Minimum Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or scientific-related field.

  • Ten (10) years of prior relevant experience, including supply chain, manufacturing, facilities.

  • Demonstrated experience as a collaborative manager, overseeing both people and processes.

  • Demonstrated ability to influence and guide executive-level managers, and reconcile and integrate competing interests.

  • Ability to drive transformational changes that impact multiple functions while making the right business tradeoffs.

  • Understands and operates at an enterprise-wide level; aligns priorities with broader goals, measures outcomes, uses feedback to change as needed, evaluates alternatives, solutions oriented, seeks alternatives and broad input; can see connections within complex issues.

  • Demonstrates initiative and takes action proactively. Possess the self-discipline to take actions before they are necessary, optimism towards achieving positive outcome and the competitiveness to translate a plan into action.

  • Proven problem solving, analytic, and project management skills. Goal-oriented and proactive in problem solving, coupled with creativity and a high energy level.

  • Excellent interpersonal communication, and presentation skills.

  • Ability to travel to support satellite plant activities and business meetings/training.

  • Avid learner and stays current on industry trends and best practices.

  • Experience using, coaching and teaching lean concepts and tools.

What you need to Succeed

Preferred Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or scientific-related field.

  • Prior experience within the Appliances industry, specifically product design.
