Director of Growth, Merchandise Services North America - SGS & Co

At SGS & Co, we are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Director of Growth for North America, who will be a vibrant representative of our comprehensive service offerings. This pivotal role ensures our pipeline is continuously filled with diverse projects, encompassing advanced print production capabilities, digital and offset reprographics, and complete design to print production. You will drive the development of both holistic and specialized service opportunities, leveraging our state-of-the-art technology and innovative techniques to meet the evolving needs of the market.

Director of Growth, Merchandise Services North America - SGS & Co

At SGS & Co, we are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Director of Growth for North America, who will be a vibrant representative of our comprehensive service offerings. This pivotal role ensures our pipeline is continuously filled with diverse projects, encompassing advanced print production capabilities, digital and offset reprographics, and complete design to print production. You will drive the development of both holistic and specialized service opportunities, leveraging our state-of-the-art technology and innovative techniques to meet the evolving needs of the market.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate closely with other Growth Team members globally, including Directors, VPs, and the EVP of Growth, as well as Commercial Leaders within our core teams.
  • Serve as the Strategic New Business Leader, becoming a trusted resource across SGS & Co. You will act as the primary liaison between potential new clients, existing clients seeking expansion, and our internal cross-functional teams.
  • Ensure the timely and successful delivery of RFP submissions, lead discovery calls, manage credential presentations, and strategize solutions tailored to client needs.
  • Identify and respond to client needs and requests, positioning SGS & Co as the first point of contact for new business opportunities in North America.
  • Drive the growth of SGS & Co's new business pipeline, acting as the secondary point of contact for new opportunities in your region, supporting the VP of Growth, who serves as the primary point of contact.
  • Champion the development and expansion of commercial print opportunities, focusing on innovative strategies for Point of Purchase (POP) and Point of Sale (POS) printing for campaigns.
  • Sell and manage the production of sales samples and mockups for new product launches, facilitating distribution to clients' trade and sales teams.
  • Develop and market short-run print production that cater to customized, small-scale printing needs for specific client projects.

Role Expectations:

  • Proactively generate new clients from the initial discovery phase through to pitching, fostering relationships, and overseeing the first project's execution before transitioning the business to Client Service teams.
  • Leverage expertise in commercial printing to enhance client proposals and deliver high-impact solutions that meet the evolving needs of the market.

This role is designed for a visionary leader who can integrate strategic business development initiatives with practical operational demands, ensuring SGS & Co remains at the forefront of industry advancements and client satisfaction in North America.

Accountable For

The initial new business client relationship, new business opportunites, RFPs, organic growth opportunities with the SGS & Co Team and the dedicated NBD forecast.

As Defined By

The growth of the business in leads, revenue generation (net new and organic), contributing margin, successful achievent of identified KPIs, and growth of both direct and indirect teams.

The VP of Growth, North America

General Overview

You understand the role strategic business partnership thinking plays in consumer conversion and the impact of great branding, packaging, content creation and/or brand communiciation. You will celebrate collective successes and grow from opportunities to ensure that SGS & Co is always striving to be the absolute best.

1. Get immersed in the exciting, fast-paced, SGS & Co Culture to be able to present our strategic solutions to new and existing clients
2. Oversee New Business Development as part of the Enterprise SGS & Co Growth Team - must be able to identify all opportunities and needs with any new leads and speak to potential opportunities involving all aspects of our services.
3. Develop a trusted advisor relationship with key accounts and customer stakeholders
4. Attend conferences and industry events to foster new leads across SGS & Co
5. Ability to apply insights and support RFPs, new business needs and new client lead meetings
6. Effectively present and communicate rationale and solutions to clients across an array of both Marks and SGS services
7. Ability to build credential decks in keynote and/or pptx
8. Ability to multi-task and problem-solve on a daily basis
9. Ongoing - Recommend improvements in the New Business Design process and utilization of resources and subject matter experts
10. Write larger scale or strategic proposals, RFPs, estimates and SOWs based on new client requests from the Growth/NBD team - must ensure alignment from subject matter experts, VP of Growth, EVP of Growth and SVP of Commercial Accounts
11. Forecast and track key metrics, communicate the progress of monthly/quarterly initiatives to internal and external stakeholders

Success In The Role

Success in this role is achieved by consistently demonstrating the active pipeline for SGS & Co opportunities with new clients and/or new targets. Identifying growth opportunities with key targets, uphold the SGS & Co standard of excellence, manage multiple priorities with internal and external clients, and make sound decisions to ensure the business moves forward resulting in wins for new business and/or business for the broader collective.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, or Sales
  • Minimum 10+ years of experience in new business, account management and/or leadership
  • Minimum 10+years of experience working with clients on packaging, reprographics, production print, digital, marketing communications, image carriers, print production
  • Proficient using Mac OS, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PPTX

Must Possess

  • Experience in Client Service and leading Client relationships/partnerships
  • Experience in commercial print environment
  • Making new client relationships and cold calling potential clients to gain an active pipeline
  • Command an audience and feel comfortable presenting to large groups / clients
  • Have a positive, proactive attitude towards opportunities and potential problems
  • Ability to communicate, present and influence credibly and effectively at all levels of the organization, including executive and C-level
  • Superior written and interpersonal communication skills that can flex and navigate easily across multiple clients and project teams
  • Thorough understanding of the design - print process

Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
