Job Summary and Qualifications

The Associate Director of Compliance will provide leadership in all areas of compliance, including policy compliance, federal compliance, contract compliance, licensing and insurance, and other areas of risk management, supervising a team that focuses on detailed components of compliance and providing oversight to their day-to-day activities. The College utilizes a proactive and collaborative approach to maintaining compliance through education and trendspotting and a timely response to resolution of identified areas of action.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Lead and oversee the compliance functions of the regulatory department of the College, including day to day supervision of staff in compliance and policy functions.

  2. Work closely with department leaders in accreditation and regulatory affairs to ensure compliance in all facets of operations and information is shared appropriately.

  3. Maintain consistent, up-to-date knowledge of all applicable federal regulatory agency standards and its impact on institutional policies and procedures. Ensure the College is aware of and incorporates changes in law or interpretations.

  4. Ensure compliance with all federal regulatory filings and federal consumer disclosures, including ongoing, proactive compliance with the Program Participation Agreement.

  5. Utilize recommendations from regulatory reporting and accreditation self-studies to identify strategies for improvement in maintaining compliance requirements.

  6. Oversee updates of policy and disclosures for all institutional publications, including the College website and Student Catalog, securing legal counsel review where appropriate.

  7. Review all published materials and web presence for compliance and accuracy.

  8. Provide guidance and interpretation of institutional and regulatory policies and procedures.

  9. Provide oversight of the process for evaluating and maintaining articulation and clinical affiliation agreements for the College, utilizing systems where possible to anticipate work.

  10. Provide oversight for state/county/local business license filings, secretary of state filings, agent registrations, insurance requirements, and similar filings required to secure and maintain state operations.

  11. Ensure identified areas of risk are properly communicated and mitigated.

  12. Develop and lead training programs to improve compliance with policies and regulations.

  13. Audit campus and department compliance with Galen and regulatory agency policies, procedures, guidelines, and best practices.

  14. Identify potential and existing areas of vulnerability and risk within the institution and recommend corrective actions for resolution. Report areas of concern or non-compliance.

  15. Monitor local, regional, and national publications for news and events that may impact the College.

  16. All other duties as assigned.

What qualifications you will need:

Education:

  1. Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree; master’s degree preferred.

  2. Three (3) years of compliance, regulatory or accreditation experience, preferably in a higher education setting.

  3. Must possess decisiveness, confidence, flexibility, and ability to adapt to change.

  4. Superior written and verbal communication skills demonstrated at all organizational levels.

  5. Excellent judgment, problem solving, analytical abilities with high attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize and organize projects to meet deadlines.

Special Qualifications: Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Must be highly organized with ability to work in a team environment, multitask and prioritize projects. Must have an ability to respect at all times the confidential nature of the work and information in the office.
