UCLA Health SMH Facilities Manager in Los Angeles, California

Under the general direction of the Director, UCLA Health System Facilities, you will manage the day to day preventative and reactive maintenance efforts and inspections/testing designed to ensure an appropriate Environment of Care and Life Safety environment in the Santa Monica Medical and Orthopedic Hospital campus physical plant. You will maintain subject premises in consistent compliance with the requirements of all applicable regulatory agencies and their proxies (including but not limited to: CMS, CDPH, State Board of Pharmacy, TJC, Cal OSHA, CARB, city, county, state and federal entities, etc.). You will manage a team consisting of approximately thirty represented employees consisting of superintendents, admin staffers, facility mechanics, plumbers, electricians, service engineers, etc., as well as numerous specialized external vendors, including UCLA Campus Facilities Management. Represent UCLA Health to regulatory agencies and their proxies during all scheduled and unannounced surveys/complaint validations; consistently engage in risk management activities. You will work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team setting to advance the overall goals of the Health System as determined by Leadership; actively promote a culture of safety, engagement, equity, and inclusiveness. Maintain departmental expenditures within budget and speak to budget variances should they occur.

Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:00am - 4:00pm (additional work hours may vary depending on departmental needs)

Annual Pay Range: $86,900 - $197,300/annuallyQualifications

  • Experience: Minimum of 6 years representing or assisting to represent a California acute-care hospital to regulatory agencies and their proxies during surveys and complaint validations.

  • Working knowledge of all codes, standards and regulatory agencies relevant to a hospital in California.

  • Working knowledge of common Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Visio).

  • Skills derived from directly operating and interacting with at least one CMMS in a hospital setting.

  • Effective time management and communication skills to help navigate a very dynamic and demanding hospital environment.

  • Ability to relate symbiotically, empathetically and enthusiastically to individuals within a very large, diverse group of stakeholders, colleagues and direct/indirect reports.

  • Leadership skills to effectively manage and motivate both a represented workforce and diverse external vendor pool.

  • Ability, confidence and willingness to make sound decisions in critical, dynamic situations, tempered by a strong sense of judgement to know when escalation is needed vs. reaction.

  • Ability and willingness to adjust to changing expectations, demands, and other conditions beyond incumbent's control.

  • Preferred

  • Minimum of 10 years' experience managing all facilities-related aspects of a 200-bed or larger acute-care hospital preferred.

  • CHFM preferred.
