Eaton Corporation Senior Post Development Engineer in Los Angeles, California

Eaton’s IS AER FMC division is currently seeking a Senior Post Development Engineer. This position is based at our Los Angeles, CA facility.

The LA facility has approximately 250 employees (and growing) and is a leader in the design, development, manufacture and delivery of Aerospace hydraulic components, systems and services to the global aftermarket and OEM markets.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $88837.47 - $135355.04 a year.

This position is for a technical role in the post development support Engineering group, supporting legacy parts, and existing design of fluid power and motion control systems and components. The Senior Post Development Engineer works with one or more Integrated Product Teams (IPT) to design, analyze, and implement product designs and design improvements in all phases of a product design lifecycle. The Senior Post Development Engineer works with limited supervision, has strong technical skills, proactively seeks support from Chief Engineers or subject matter experts, and can adapt and react quickly to internal and external customer demands.

What you’ll do:

  • Provide technical design, analysis, and guidance for existing product, product improvements, test components, rigs, and systems.

  • Decision-making authority on behalf of PDS Engineering for system, component, and/or test rig design and the responsibilities for guiding and directing applicable IPT technical decisions and accomplishment of objectives.

  • Lead and participate in efforts to solve problems with product design, inspection, manufacturing, and test encountered by vendors, company operations personnel, and customers. Consult Chief Engineers and subject matter experts for guidance appropriately.

  • Create and/or guide the creation of technical documents, including Engineering drawings (following ASME Y14.5, ASME Y14.34 standards), test procedures, test reports, and design review material. Present product design and substantiating data and analysis, design findings and recommendations to customers and management.

  • Ensure standardization of products and adherence to engineering processes across multiple projects. Support continuous improvement by offering input to standard processes and procedures.

  • Collaborate with peers and managers to determine key goals, objectives, and corresponding metrics. Review and amend these actions as appropriate. Focus on the timely achievement of these goals and objectives.

  • Interpret engineering documents; coordinate update of engineering documents.

  • Component design study and improvement for cost reduction and first pass yield.

Qualifications:

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited institution.

  • Minimum of two (2) years of relevant Mechanical Project Engineering and or Design Engineering experience.

  • No relocation benefit is offered for this position. Only candidates residing within 50 miles of the Los Angeles, CA facility will be considered for this position.

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future.

  • This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Hydraulic or pneumatic experience products.

  • Experience with electromechanical products.

  • Fluid Control devices design experience utilizing 3D CAD software

  • Experience in the Aerospace and automotive Industry with Fluid Control devices

  • Experience with CREO, ANSYS Drafting requirements, and Matlab/Simulink.

Skills

  • Ability to apply Geometrical Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles and perform tolerance stack-up analysis.

  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and material selection for high pressure applications.

  • Working knowledge of Design for Six Sigma (DFSS), Design for Manufacturability (dfM), Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Design of Experiments (DOE), and Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) principles.

  • Experience with working on cross-functional teams.

  • Good technical writing, communication, and presentation skills.
