JOB OPPORTUNITY: RESEARCH PROJECT MANAGER

Location: Los Angeles, CA

FULL-TIME REMOTE

Salary range: $80,000 - $90,000 annually ; Initial appointment of this grant funded position is one year, with subsequent opportunity for renewal.

Project title: A longitudinal examination of factors predicting the social networks and mental health services of Black and Latinx Individuals with serious mental illnesses (Co-Principal Investigators: Rohini Pahwa, PhD and Erin Kelly, PhD).

Duties and Responsibilities

● Direct a longitudinal research study

● Hire, train, and supervise staff

● Oversee construction of a project database in REDCap

● Implement recruitment plans

● Screen participants for eligibility

● Obtain participant consent and schedule assessments

● Oversee participant compensation, reconcile petty cash and participant compensation logs

● Refine and implement tracking protocols to maintain high follow-up and retention rates

● Conduct quantitative assessments with participants

● Conduct qualitative assessments with participants

● Coordinate data collection with the practice-based research network

● Monitor participant enrollment and retention and prepare regular reports

● Help prepare regular reports for the funders and community partners

● Perform other related activities as required

Required Education, Experience, and Skills

● Master’s degree or higher in social work, public health, psychology, nursing, or other social/behavioral science disciplines

● Excellent communicator – demonstrated interpersonal, written and oral communication skills to effectively communicate, collaborate, and establish and maintain good working relationships with a diverse group of multi-disciplinary researchers, staff, and partners

● Experience with longitudinal research and participant tracking

● Experience with quantitative methods

● Experience managing a team and/or supervising staff

● Excellent organizational skills

● Excellent computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office and the ability to learn new software applications such as REDCap

● Ability to travel within Los Angeles for project activities

● Commitment to racial equity, health equity, social justice, and reducing racial/ethnic disparities in health and mental health

● Must have a high level of attention to detail, flexibility, ability to work on a team, and punctuality

Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills

● Bilingual in English and Spanish

● Familiarity with social cognitive testing

● Experience with qualitative research methods

● Familiarity with institutional review boards, HIPAA regulations, and clinical research standards. Prior experience working with research protocols

● Experience with working with adults with serious mental illnesses

● Experience working with data repositories

● Demonstrated experience working with racially and ethnically diverse populations (e.g., Black, Latina/e/o) and/or with other underserved populations (e.g. formally incarcerated, experiencing unstable housing)

● Experience in statistical analysis and statistical software packages and/or experience in qualitative research and qualitative research software packages.
